This isn't about Assad. The US isn't doing regime change.

This is all about having the Kurds beat ISIS and have a permanent USA base in Eastern Syria in any negotiated political settlement.

Once ISIS is defeated, the civil war will shift. Will the Syrian forces and Kurds go into a full blown war? Will the Kurds betray the USA?

OMG HELL NO.

That is not an acceptable detente for me personally. I hope Russia wont settle for that either(they might if allowed other things though).

Plan A was regime change. That plan is indeed dead....hopefully.
Plan B is to divide Syria up along secretarian lines: Alawites/Shia/Sunni/Christian/Druze (West Syria) and Sunni/Kurds (East Syria) Or the other way around, in any case: Commence further f***ery(all the resources will mysteriously end up in the hands of West Syria forcing East Syria, backed by Iran, to cry foul and go to war(Again I might have East/West mixed up but you get my point).....again, which would be just fine with Uncle Sam)

I hope plan B fails too.
