I think what @ZoeGod said could be what's materializing. The Kurds SDF and regime forces haven't really been in conflict. There's reports of them coordinating together. The Syrian pilot hasn't been confirmed dead and some Pro SAA reports say he's being held by SDF.
Anyway, ISIS is being overrrun and withdrawing from central Syria. The potential for conflict between US backed groups and the Russia/Iran backed groups is increasing.
It's clear the USA wants to have its zone of influence in Eastern Syria along the Iraqi border.
But the Syrian army and its Iranian backed militias are hell bent on retaking Deir Ezzor to effectively end that project.
The Kurds could go any number of ways. Who will back stab who? It's unpredictable.
