Legal and illegal immigration over the past 30 years have had a devastating effect on the wages and standard of living of millions of Americans (black, white, red and brown alike). Therefore I can't support it. If my politics hurts your family, so be it. My family comes first.

OK, so why again is this my problem? I'm not obligated to allow your family to come here and "get the money" to send back to Nigeria. This doesn't help me or my family, and probably hurts it because of the lowered wages, increased traffic and higher real estate prices. Not to mention the financial leakage from those remittances - those are dollars that aren't being spent in the US, stimulating local businesses and providing employment opportunities for Americans.

So again, why should we let you do this?

1) That's money that African Americans could be getting affirmative action is increasingly being used by African immigrants (who make up over 60% of black ivy league school attendees) and needs more African American representation. Those same Africans then turn around and call African Americans lazy or akatas or adoons even though it was THEM getting their brains bashed in that lead to the massive social change in how minorities AND immigrants in general are treated in this country.

2) All those remittances doesn't help the brain drain that is happening in certain African countries because their best and brightest end up leaving the country instead of building their OWN countries. Also the remittances are just another form of international welfare where people are relying on free money being sent to them to live on....What Africa needs is young, smart, entrepreneurs to start industries in African countries.

So then what am I talking about?

I'm trying to reduce the incentive for folks to come to this country illegally. Currently, a big draw is the fact that we offer citizenship to anyone who is born on American soil, regardless of their parents' immigration status. By abolishing birthright citizenship, we remove the incentive for ANYONE to try and pull a fast one - whether it be an attempt by someone on a legitimate travel visa or a straight up illegal delivering a baby in a US hospital.

In theory I get what you're saying, but come on man, you really think most of the opponents of immigration give a fukk about black, red and brown Americans alike? They're not going to outwardly say it but they don't want ANY "nikkas and hombres" in this country, citizen or not. I would gladly accept black immigrants over my racist American "brethern" any day of the week.

It really does suck for the black immigrants. Unfortunately, we let this issue get way out of control over the past 30 years. A lot of people banked on the US continuing to pursue the same awful immigration policies as before. Those people, including the black ones, will be hurt. It's a shame, but it has to happen. Every policy change has winners and losers.

I can't agree with y'all on this thread at all. I came to America with my family from Nigeria when I was just 8 months old. We were political refugees escaping the Abacha regime. I grew up knowing a lot of Africans who were illegal, including some of my relatives and one of my little sister's closest friends. Many Nigerians came to the states through DACA. Undocumented immigrants aren't just Latinos, they're Africans, West Indians, Asians, Eastern Europeans, hell even Canadians..i can't rock with this "fukk immigrants, fukk refugees" shtick. It effects a lot of people, even people who look like you.
