if I am the Nets I:
1) Tell Kyrie to suck a dikk and hold him hostage, letting his contract expire to redeem cap space. As a result
- He doesnt get to go to a contender and compete this year
- Doesn't get to sign a max extension / deal at the end of the season
- Has a limited # of teams he can actually go to without doing a sign and trade - thereby hurting those teams' prospects in the process
2) Nobly, trade Durant to a team (maybe GS, PHI, MIA, PHX pick up that phone) for expiring contracts, young pieces and picks
3) Start fresh and try to build a team from the ground up
4) Consider hiring a new GM to lead this project
Its time Brooklyn stops kicking the can down the road. It's been a failure. Accept it and rebuild.

Never know where a team may end up down the line. Having their FRPs, getting rid of a large contract, and getting back an expiring is a lot better than getting nothing at all. You just speaking out of frustration that GOAT franchise might come up on another superstar.

I mean, you also have to consider KD in this scenario. A Kyrie deal done right can still keep the Nets/KD in contention.
As a Laker fan, I think the best thing for all parties is to add the Bulls as a third trade partner. Let them take on Russ expiring and the pick, Nets get DeRozan or Lavine plus a Laker role player, Lakers get back Kyrie, a Bulls role player, and a contract like Joe Harris.
That’s a lot better than doing nothing for the sake of doing nothing and it’s much better than being forced to trade Harden for Ben Simmons lol
