The top Senate Republican explained that a federal abortion ban is on the table in his most explicit comments to date about what the SCOTUS draft leak could mean going forward.

Asked by USA Today whether a national ban “is something worthy of a debate,” the top Senate Republican said Republicans might indeed entertain the idea, according to the interview, which was published on Saturday. “If the leaked opinion became the final opinion, legislative bodies—not only at the state level but at the federal level—certainly could legislate in that area,” McConnell said. "And if this were the final decision, that was the point that it should be resolved one way or another in the legislative process. So yeah, it’s possible.”

Say he died as a Supreme Court justice right after Clinton won between November to January. There's no way Biden (chairman of the Senate Judiciary committee at the time) would have let Bush replace him.

Supermajority of conservadems. Senators like Joe Lieberman, Ben Nelson, Byron Dorgan, Max Baucus, Tim Johnson, Jim Webb, Jay Rockefeller, etc were moderate/conservative Democrats (most of whom are NOT pro-choice).

Also, Dems only had a filibuster-proof majority for 2 months from Jan. 2009 to Jan. 2011. In those 2 months, they passed Obamacare.

You asked when they had a supermajority. That's when they had a supermajority. Al Franken situation came much later after that.

Just because they fumbled the ball early and had an key player have an unexpected injury, doesn't mean they weren't in the position to win.

They could have abolished the filibuster then and passed all the laws they wanted. They didn't. They chose to put health care as their top priority and didn't have a plan on day 1 to pass it.

Some of the same states banning abortion are openly making it difficult for black people to vote, with the Supreme Court already saying states can do what they want with voting, but somehow banning abortions is going to increase black voting power

There is thousands of kids that are without a home/family right now that are up for adoption. How many of these pro-lifers are adopting kids since they care about them so much? I will answer that for you, it is less than 5%. They don't really give a shyt about children at all, they just don't like the idea of abortion. Who cares if the child grows up in a harsh and grueling enviornment, none of that matters to them at all.

This is it. Makes no sense at all to want, unwanted children to be born into society to bad parents or being left to the foster system. It’s disgusting.

They're using that ruling as the precedent to take your civil rights. So in a way, you should care. Even if it doesn't directly affect you.

Plus this ruling affects black men and women too.
