Completely disrespected his coach and team by doing this. There were players who wanted to kneel and Tomlin didn't want to divide the team over this so he told them to stay in. Standing for the anthem is just as much of a statement as kneeling is. What gives him the right to make his statement and no one else? Terrible look.

Dude seved time in the military, he probably lost friends in battle, a true leader (Tomlin) picks his battles wisely. I wouldn't be surprised if he told the team why he was doing what he was doing then followed it with "it's your decision" and everyone said "fukk it" but everyone knew that this one Player would he out there.

People like you need to look at the bigger picture. Why would he piss off one his best offensive lineman after saying "we're not here to play politics".

whenever I watch football(soccer) they never play the national anthem in the respective domestic leagues. The only time the anthem is played is during international matches and it's always without the lyrics

That's how it should be but the NFL is doing it to make money because they charge (or used to) charge the military for it every game, every week

He'd be pissed cuz his player undercut his attempt at keeping unity in a locker room with many passionate views on both sides. More likely than him saying "it's your decision" to the whole team, he probably said that to Alejandro once he let Tomlin know that he wanted to go out for the anthem.

Tomlin's no fool. He'll surely not make this bigger than it need be. But again, if I were him, he'd be off my team next year.
