I don't get what u all are applauding this is the most non offensive and pu55iest way to go about making a statement. This has been what the cacs against the anthem have always said should happen. If you are going to sit or kneel during the anthem stay in the lockeroom. How does that make the Steelers the greatest team in Pennsylvania?
good ol system of white supremacy for yathe funny thing is... ok. i can somewhat understand not liking the protest. maybe your brother was a vet. cool, even though that makes no sense, i get it
but they just go overboard w/ the hate, it cant be anything be anything but racism. people acting like Kap and the players are killing babies.
Yea I dnt understand why people are bigging this up. The only statement Tomlin and the steelers made is that they are going to stick to football. That's the opposite of what Kaep was doing. Just like saying we dnt give a fukk about injustices we got a football game to play.
He basically muted out his players who was going to protest.
Non-American here, from the outside looking in and trying to understand the situation. Most of the countries I know play their anthem exceptionally (for international sports events, for their national days, for ceremonies of remembrance etc.) Why do you guys play the anthem before a "normal" (as in domestic I guess) sport event ? I remember the first MLS game I watched, I was taken by surprise once I heard the anthem because it was just a simple footy match.
I mean, when I watch a boxing fight, even if none of the fights are American, the anthem is played because it's on American soil. Doesn't it downplay the value of it ? Over here, the fact that it is played rarely makes it important and solemn. Doesn't the anthem become "common" when it is played too often ?
It began as something to instill pride during a period of war if I recall, but the practice never left schools. Honestly, we never took is all that seriously after elementary school. No one who is like 11 or 12 cares about standing up during homeroom before class starts. Even at games it's one of those "tradition" things but no one is really thinking about patriotism at that moment.Non-American here, from the outside looking in and trying to understand the situation. I don't have a problem with that. You know what's worse? Having a bunch of clowns on the field locking arms or having clowns standing for the anthem cuz they were threatened.
That locker room shyt infuriated people so I have no issue with it.
I thought it was a good idea until I sat back and thought about it. I think the owners basically want them out of sight out of mind so by keeping them in the locker rooms the media doesn't have to worry about showing the kneel Downs
