I posted this in the random thoughts thread but i have two friends in the defense industry and they both alluded to the fact our military is gearing up for major conflict in 2019. I figured it was about NK but now with these revelations it would make sense that we’re going to war in Lebanon to fight back Iranian proxies.

If the Americans decided against directly intervening against Assad in Syria, there is no chance American soldiers will be deployed to Lebanon. If theres a war it will be with Israel.

It’s all just hearsay for now but these guys are serious people so i believe them. US troops would join the fight the second they get word Iran is involved, imo.

I mean maybe NK if the admin is really unhinged.

It's probably just graft and propping up the industry. You know the usual conservatives picking winners and losers.

Munitions could be expiring too.

Another surge in Afghanistan is also possible...

Question:

How did the Houthis develop a ballistic missile advanced enough to reach Riyadh, without Iranian support?

Many leftist brethern have long bristled against the claims the Houthis receive support from Iran or Hezb, but Im seriously skeptical that they wouldve developed the capability otherwise.

The Iran/Hezb/Hashd/Houthi side of the Middle East proxy war is quite shrewd in capitalizing on negative sentiment against Gulf to push their own fallacies in Syria and Yemen.

There is reports Iran send missile parts broken up separately through Oman and through the sea in containers. The logistics to search every ship is daunting and is a loophole how Iran has supplied them. So one ship has fuel. The other has parts broken into pieces that you cant tell if its parts for a missile. Also these missile systems are mobile and easy to hide. This is why even though two years into this campaign the Houthis still can fire missiles. Air support with no strong ground support is basically fighting a war half assed. Mobile missile systems can evade air power by moving fast and the use of dummy targets. So you pull it out the lot. Fire the amount you want to fire and leave the scene. Basically ballistic guerilla warfare. Remember even the US had a hard time tracking Saddam scud missiles in 1991. And 26 years later it is still hard. By the time you send jets to go the area where the missiles are fired from nothing is there. Everybody dipped. And Yemen had a good number of ballistic missiles before the war and now Iran is sending some covertly.

Not to get off topic but the Yemen war is similar to Vietnam. The Iranians aren't putting much effort to aid the Houthis similar to how the Soviets did to America in Vietnam. Iran is simply prolonging the war and turn the war into a resource drain for the Saudis.

 Qaboos is my favourite khaleeji monarch n/h. Oman is a very laid back place, that places an emphasis on preserving its culture and history. Omanis are generally great people as well.
Yeah went oman couple times to visit family in muscat. They are the best arabs i met out of the khaleej. You got omai cab drivers even.

frankly I refuse to rule out the possibility the Saudis, or their allies/agents on the ground, fired it themselves to provide a pretext to ratchet up tensions

if the above isn't the case, it'd have to be the Iranians, the fukking Houthis aint making this shyt themselves :heh:
