He's an old school Bedouin. Which is why his pops loves him. He's really from the soil...not that educated abroad shyt.

To be honest domestic popularity doesn't count for much in KSA politics. In a list of important factors to be King it's way down the list after American and royal family cosign.
Whats going on now is way against the grain though, its not KSA politics as usual. Its a brand new world breh  He thinks his domestic popularity can override the traditional respect for family consensus. He has the American cosign as well, so he has a free hand to carry on as he sees fit. His bet may be right so far, but we will see in the long run.

On another note anyone think the people arrested are innocent of the crimes they're charged with? :sas1:
Theyre certainly corrupt in the literal sense of the word - i.e. getting rich off links to government contracts etc but this is literally how everyone does business in Saudi, and always has. Its always been accepted that the royal family and the elite with close links to them can treat state revenue as a chequing account. Everything from arms deals to public infrastructure projects to education is rife with this type of insider skimming. Dude is sacrificing the most prominent faces at the altar to gather populist support and say business as usual is over, but its a symbolic move at best that obviously has political benefit for him.

I've been at this same Ritz Carlton for a conference a few years ago. I feel like I'm a part of history :wow:

That photo had me :merchant: too. Dude is having his cousins and the son of King Abdullah sleep on a foorash :merchant: Literally unheard of and shows we are in unprecedented territory. The Gulf has been the traditional island of (artifical) stabiltiy in the region but at this point, all bets are off.

Rumors are going around that MbS was in Las Vegas early October, and that there was a plot to have him killed. This alleged plan was orchestrated by some or all of these 11 saudi royalty that have been arrested. Initially the Crown Prince had the entire Four Seasons booked for the week, which sits on top of Mandalay bay(do your googles if you think im lying).

If this plot has any validity, then it would make the current moves going on in SA alot more understandable in terms of the "anti-corruption" committee that will be trying these foos. They came and the crown prince and missed because he was at a different casino playing cards in regular breh clothes instead of at the hotel he rented out with 50 personal guards.

>Kushner comes to SA and meets with Crown prince and discusses the proof that has been collected regarding the "plot" on the crown princes life. They discuss that in return for the evidence implicating the conspirators, that crown prince must support the USD and take the Aramco IPO to the NYSE this upcoming Spring.

Detained Saudi elite to face trial as purge widens

:wow:

:damn:Detained Saudi elite to face trial as purge widens

Sounds like a money grab

oh wow, looks like Hariri is no longer of use

Al Talal getting caught up in this was a signal that economic interests were at play

That's the beauty of this whole thing, its clearly a consolidation of power, wrapped up in a populist anti corruption campaign

MBS draining the Oasis

:damn:

The thing is the war is winding down in Syria. Hezbollah has already stated they are going to leave in 2018. The Israeli military has said repeatedly they want to go all out in Lebanon. It is a foolish goal if they go down that route.

Maybe force Assad/Iran to make concessions in Syria, if they wanna keep Lebanon? Either way, this is crazy

crazy that this pic leaked

the prevailing sentiment was that by keeping them under a relatively pampered form of arrest in a five star hotel, MBS was seeking not to degrade them too much lest he offends their tribes and those that benefit from their patronage

which I guess is still the case, but these pics...what a way to humble these motherfukkers :heh:

The leak definitely came from MBS sources and was intentional. To provide weight to the idea anyone can be a target in his "war against corruption." He definitely doesnt give a fukk about the traditional respect for the family consensus etc., and thinks his personal popularity will override any internal backlash he will face from that. Also he's already consolidated all the power structures of the state ( interior ministry, army, now has control of National Guard)

Facts. MBS dropped $550m on a yacht a few month ago :comeon:...His dad just blew $100m on a holiday..come on

Yh he's violating. Saudis, like other tribal/bedouin peoples, have a deep sense of honour and pride. He's a habitual line stepper. Traditionally internal family squabbles and political manoeuvring used to take place behind the scenes...he put everyone on the summer jam screen and called them corrupt. WOW. There's no way he can just brush this under the carpet. He's gonna have to take it there

They're living like refugees on thin mattresses with no bed sheets,,,curtains drawn...guards taping them and taking pics. Crazy

What I'm interested to find out is how Mutib got arrested. Surely after MBN he would have been on point. The National Guard was his shyt.

Mutib

all locked down

He just put everyone on notice

He is banking on two things. Support of the people(which is working since he is very popular with the masses) and the military. He will simply pay them off. He will give the men in the SANG and Saudi military a major pay raise for their loyalty. This is some game of thrones shyt.

How Saudi elite became five-star prisoners at the Riyadh Ritz-Carlton

At 11pm on Saturday, guests at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Riyadh got a rude awakening. Businesspeople and consultants who were staying in one of Riyadh’s most opulent digs, along with diners and visitors, were all told to assemble in the lobby with their bags. No one knew why.

As guests made their way to buses to be taken to other hotels in the Saudi capital, senior officials were making plans for new arrivals who weren’t prepared for a night away from home, let alone a spell in a five-star hotel. They were soon to become the highest-profile prisoners in the modern kingdom’s history. And the most pampered.

From midnight, buses arrived in the sprawling complex disgorging princes, business leaders, other royals, their guards and their captors. The arrivals marked the start of an extraordinary episode that exposed the kingdom’s elite to rare public scrutiny and showed that, even when accused of high crime, the powerful maintain privileges.

By dawn on Sunday, more than 30 of Saudi Arabia’s most senior figures, among them blood relatives of senior rulers, were locked inside the hotel, accused of corruption. Their ignominious arrests were the talk of the country, and so too was the fact that they were far from a prison cell, where most citizens facing similar charges could expect to find themselves.
