Based on the article it seems Miami had a higher bar to clear than any of the other team likely because dame and his agent were so forceful off the rip. Cronin was not going to be perceived to have taken an L on this trade with Miami under any circumstances.
He wanted to stay in Portland!!!! Never asked for the bucks at all until he was forced

Dame made it clear he wanted out - just because it turned out to be a location not of his choosing doesn’t change the fact the Blazers organization is well within its right to go with the best asset haul

he asked for a trade to a specific team or to stay…naaah you silly as hell expecting a team to honor that or more than likely just in your feelings cuz the blazers didn’t send him to the heat…I can understand a team wanting to completely move on from a player once he demands a trade if they can’t outright convince him to stay
