I have a young relative of mine. Young black kid too. He is super nice in baseball. He BPs 2x a week with professional trainer. Former major leaguer. Live arm and juggs machine. Already hitting breaking balls and off speed pitches.
Pylometrics 2x week. CF and infield drills weekly. Has 50+ exit velo. He's by far the fastest on his travel ball team and he plays up. He's only 7 years old.

I say that to say this. Black inner city kids have been absolutely priced out of baseball. If you cant allocate at least 6k/yr for travel ball, training, and equipment forget about it. And thats for the littke kids 10 and under. Middle scool and HS is way more.

Can somebody explain to me how MLB franchises can commit to 10 years ? Is that money garanteed as well ? And can the player leave/be traded during that time period ?

It's basically players and agents getting back what they lost in their early years because of MLB's awful free agency rules and service time manipulation. Most guys aren't becoming free agents until their late 20s or early 30s so when they hit free agency, they want to be set for the rest of their careers after going through arbitration year after year in the beginning.
