@PhonZhi
Great post :wow:

How do we fix the problem though? What can we do?
Honestly I think outside forces are gonna have to come in to play first.

Black People waking up and gaining a sense of racial pride on a large scale will have to happen first and as a RESULT of that, we will no longer WANT to hear "shoot a n1kka", "kill a n1kka", "young n1kka move that dope" raps.

I know this because it happened to me personally. I listened to those types of songs all my life and never gave any thought to it. As I got older and started learning past history I gained a sense of pride and self-esteem in being black. I became PROUD of being black. There's a huge difference in simply knowing you're black and being PROUD of being black.

I think black people are slowly starting to wake up more and more since the Trayvon incident. Michael brown case, the NFL Kapaernick situation, etc are slowly starting to wake us up.

I think us shunning the negative messages in hip-hop will be a RESULT of a mass awakening of black people.

We just don't have enough racial pride as a people right now and that's why we still sing and dance along to our own genocide.

Every time this thread is made I have to remind OP that the music is a symptom of what’s really going on in the streets. If we want the music to change than our entire culture needs to change. nikkas out here on the streets really living that life aren’t being influenced by rappers and music videos. If anything they are the ones influencing the rappers and music videos

nikkas be decades removed from the hood and still rapping about the same shyt foh

What's Jeezy excuse
What's Gucci excuse
What's Future excuse
What's Ross excuse

Jay Z damn near 50 finally tackling grown man raps instead of his coke dealing adventures from the 80s

That explanation is beyond tired bruh. nikkas doing this shyt willfully.

Its crazy to me that we STILL don't understand how the system of white supremacy works :snoop:

White supremacy is like a pie chart:

bLeEvOm.png

There are MANY different tactics being used to attack us both physically psychologically and spiritually.

One of those tactics is called "media propaganda". Its 1 slice of the pie. But its extremely effective.

Hip-hop falls under the umbrella of "media propaganda".

Do you and others not understand how effective "media propaganda" has been throughout history in destroying the credibility, reputation and image of blacks?

Media propaganda has straight up been one of the MOST EFFECTIVE tools used against blacks over the last 100 years. Stop downplaying it breh.
I know exactly how white supremacy works. Nobody needs to tell me that there of negative images of us being portrayed. That much is obvious. But you always skip over my point that to address the problem you must attack it at the root. Hip hop is just another leaf on the tree

Speak on this breh :lupe:
Just Google his name man. I wanna let you form your own opinion on that, don't wanna be all preachy and shyt. But since you the guy that made this thread, I think you'll agree with me once you are done with research. And it's a 5-star thread by the way. Don't know why it got bushed. Meanwhile some shyt like "50 Cent Clowns Tyrese For Crying" will get 100 daps and a sticky:snoop:

This only proves the point many of us are trying to make. These issues would be here whether hip hop existed or not. Many of these rappers are a product of this environment

That's like saying "guns don't kill people, people do". I think we'd be further ahead without the popularity of hip hop to be honest. It's not the cause of our plight but it sure as hell plays a big role in it.

I’m not saying your wrong but this wasn’t my point. My point is that instead of placing the blame on hip hop place the blame at the root of the source. Whether the rappers you named were here or not you would still have old dudes 30+ years old still running the streets

What “plight” has hip hop contributed to? Correct if I’m wrong but that very “plight” is what led to hip hop being created in the first place

I think you're asking for a lot hoping for a mass awakening of any group of people. I think what is more likely and practical is the emergence of a different artform or form of entertainment that shifts black consumer's attention away from hip hop. I think movies provide a great example. I think the hood 90s flicks don't get promoted and made anymore simply because other attractive alternatives took their place not because of a mass awakening.

why is this thread in this section

@PhonZhi
i guess certain mods hate anything speaking against hiphop breh, even tho its all 100% true and historically factual. Sad really because "media propaganda" is a REAL tool thats been used against us and still is. EVerything i said in the OP can be easily googled as true.

Matter fact they bushed this thread too recently:

http://www.thecoli.com/threads/are-...ing-on-from-hip-hop-are-you-if-so-why.580269/

^^^^ this thread was simply about black folk who are starting to move on from hiphop. Lots of ppl in the thread were saying that their growing old of the subject matter and starting to gravitate away from it. Got bushed for some reason. Thread got alot of responses too at the time it got bushed.

idk, @ the mods and ask if you want because it is kinda weird and disturbing that a subject like this where lots of people agree with the OP gets thrown in the bushes.

Always
That's crazy. You presented your talking point intellectually and supported it with evidence. You're black and this issue affects all black people. This forum promotes itself as a space where black people can have these discussions.

Again, I agree with and respect you big bro. Keep spreading knowledge for us little bros. I'm 27. I've read a lot and done more schooling at a higher level than most. I can confidently say wisdom is a type of intelligence that can be gained through conversations with older folks, and experience and reflection.

Your wisdom isn't something you have to share but you do and I appreciate it.

This thread has a 5 star rating and 12 votes. It shouldn't be in the bushes it should be posted on TLR front page for life. Just to let the ignorants know we're building on this site too, we're not just making jokes and being mean.
