Great thread. The first thing many immigrants are told before they come over here is too be very careful around blacks because they are violent. My aunt is Ethiopian and this sentiment is apparently shared by many Africans also.

I dont think we can no longer say "we dont have control over our image". The problem is that we dont confront those who perpetuate these stereotypes. The mere fact that we allow grown adult men to pratically brainwash our boys into believing a criminal is glamourous is so troubling to me. I dont know of any other culture/race, where a 40 year old rapper can make music celebrating selling crack and murdering his own people and it primarily be marketed towards children.
Do any of you realize that if the situation were reversed head would be rolling in the street - I mean that literally. Other races dont tolerate the destruction of their children.

Not only do we tolerate it, but we encourage it. What kind of sick culture have we adopted as a people?

Black folks have to be honest, is going up to 21 Savage and his team and saying hey, stop making this type of music for A, B, C, D reason is going to work? You are talking about a young man who joined Ifa. He's not in that realm. We gotta be honest, you wanna end this, you gotta go STRAIGHT to the white supremacists who control it. That takes a lot of work and coordination that a lot of us don't want to do or have time to do but it must be done.

White supremacy is like a pie chart:

One of those tactics is called "media propaganda". Its 1 slice of the pie. But its extremely effective.

Hip-hop falls under the umbrella of "media propaganda".

When @PhonZhi started making these threads showing the harm perpetuated by hip hop, there were a lot more than one person deflecting from hip hops responsibility. He would be getting dragged in these threads.
