I love my school to death, but I’m 100 percent confident SJU paid for Shamorie Ponds. My man went from being broke in the projects to having a BMW and dating a Instagram model. I just hope Shamorie stops showing off on instagram. Nikka is snitching on himself.

:francis: And yes I’m confident Uconn did dirty with Sid Wilson.

:francis: They still recruited him after he signed his LOI. Cold world.

:stopitslime: please don't tell me this is his whip a BMW I8

people watch college sports for coaches and the schools. Not hte players.

And this is not an AAU. This is not travel sports. This is NBA teams running something akin to a boarding school.

People watching basketball is better than people not watching basketball.

It would very much be an AAU like system, in terms of what it would be replacing in terms of scale/impact and accounting for finding/developing players from age 9-18; Again, why would this benefit the NBA at all financially? And that is primarily what it comes down to.

AAU clubs play hundreds of games a year and do not coach their players and its on weekends.

An academy is just what I described. They are not the same.

And the cost is not high at all and the benefit financially is cutting out the NCAA as a middle man. Also to preserve these players so they are not overplayed like they do in HS and college.

The number of AAU games teams plays varies, as is the same with coaching and preparation.

I didn't say AAU mirrors an academy, I said that it would be replacing AAU as far system impact and scale and the NBA would at least account financially for that since they would be the primary facilitators for such.

What are the costs of developing this then, especailly for all thirty teams in presumably thirty locals? IMG and Oak Hill aren't cheap, especially if you want to function as an actually school.

The NBA isn't hurt by the NCAA at all, they get their best players every year without all the work.

the NBA has a deal with Nike

ask them to pony up (and they would)

And the NBA subsidizes the WNBA at a loss, and have for 20 years. Academies do not cost that much to run.

pretty much this.

There is no reason for there not to be an academy structure in place except that you want to see Coach K coach a Kyrie Irving for 30 games (or 9 in his case)
College Basketball will be better for it. They can recruit academy kids who decided to go to college or just didn't get picked up by the NBA academies. This would not end AAU but this would give the NBA a controlled environment to develop talent.

The product of the game is hurting, even Adam Sliver went on record saying this as well as scouts and management. What the hell are you talking about. Scouting the NCAA isn't free.

and this is why you won't get that other demographic to tune into a minor league system...... the crowd that they rather watch college than the NBA :mjpls:

You will have to be a true fan of basketball to consistently watch lower quality play in the G League...... college ball is viewed because of the storylines and the social value it has... you take that away, and the overwhelming majority of viewers stop watching....
