planes are designed to land on their belly if need be. Looks like the landing was successful but they put it down too late and missed most of the runway and hit that brick wall/ structure. If that wall wasnt there they would have survived.

They were coming in too fast. Lack of flaps to bleed off airspeed on approach. So no, at that speed they’re not designed to land without gear. And the fuel tanks were full, more mass, more inertia. This plane would’ve needed another mile of runway to come to a stop

Without engine power the reverse thrust wasn’t working too from what I saw

I agree they came in too fast. But it's a crash landing and this is all speculation. If they dont hit that wall at high speed there is a better chance it doesn't end in a fireball.

A lot of ppl are speculating all sorts of things. Interested to hear what the final analysis will be. This seems to be a cascade of errors not just one thing imo

With that type of fear and logic then folks shouldn't drive their cars to work because traffic accidents are more likely to occur than plane crashes.

Don't know how people use fear to limit their ability to explore traveling to different countries/learn how other people live but they rather complain about inflation as well as other media hot topics.

:childplease:

I drive a Toyota. It's a brand I trust to make a high quality product and it's had that reputation for years.

When I'm driving, I'm not worried about my car blowing up on the road; I'm more concerned about encountering a distracted driver snd move accordingly.

Boeing used to make a high quality product and a reputation it could stand behind for years. Thus, most folks understood the unlikely plane crash would be due to pilot error (just like with the Toyota).

Problem is, to a degree, that has been taken away - for the passengers and the pilots on newer Boeing models. Now folks not only worried about the pilots fukking up, but now they've also got to worry about being on a defective plane....I think it's a legitimate concern.

Because plane crashes are muthafukkin scary nikka that's why:dahell:

People have upscaled fear about planes because of the lack of control compared to driving a car. Sure car accidents are far more common but you have more control over factors regarding road traffic. You surrender a lot of agency getting in a plane. You can't blame nikkas for being terrified of the shyt:mjlol:

even Toyota has had issues the past couple of years but Boeing is on another level of incompetence

You can see the type of plane when booking.

I said pilot error COULD be a possibility NOT is the possibility. :snoop::what:

Flaps were still UP. Flaps are supposed to be DOWN for landing.

However, i’m not blaming the pilot though as the situation coulda been stressful enough that they didn’t have time to run through their approach/landing checklist.
I'm also sure there's a manual way to crank landing gear down if there's a power failure. I'm holding off on pointing the finger at Boeing. I'm feeling pilot error too.

There is indeed.

But pilots were definitely overwhelmed.

Real tragic all around.

Damn, when this story first broke, the implication was that there were several survivors. Very sad that only two people survived. I hope no children died, but that’s unlikely.
