That’s what I was saying the Korean pilot should’ve used the longest runway

Pilots can request to use a certain runway…but its ultimately upto ATC discretion. Wind and runway conditions also determine which runway can be used.

Normally, pilots plan to land on a specific runway. Therefore configure the aircraft to land based on that and other factors.

They simply did not have the time to configure the aircraft appropriately. Ie. Speed & flap configuration

Gotta blame Korea on this one for putting a fukkin wall at the end of the runway instead of a EMAS that would’ve stopped that plane after it overshot the runway

Yeah that wall being there is pretty dumb. Looks like they had another 1200 ft pass that before having to cross a road.

Hard trying to figure out what went wrong here. I'm going to guess they lost both engines or turned off the wrong one, panicked and didn't follow protocol and we ended up here. So in short I'm going to guess pilot error(s). No reason they shouldn't have dumped the fuel or manually got the landing gear down. Which likely means they had abandoned following any checklist.
