Breaking Bad doesn't deserve to sit at the table with The Sopranos and The Wire

Is Breaking Bad GOAT status?

I know the Sopranos did that whole short stories leading to a complete whole thing like Mad Men, but some of that shyt was :beli: status

That "Christopher Columbus" episode is probably the worst episode a "prestige drama" has ever produced

and :mjlol: at Boardwalk Empire even being up for consideration.

The Shield probably had the best wrap up of any show mentioned here, can't honestly remember any loose ends left open:yeshrug:

Sopranos can't be the goat off the finale alone in my book. It's legit my favorite show of all time, I can watch any episode multiple times...but that ending....that ending is just:snoop:

Started re watching BB again and it's easily top 5...easily.

It is a little below Sopranos and The Wire. There were many times where characters acted very unbelievably to further the story. A lot of things Mike did in Season 5 for example. Jesse throwing money out of the car drawing attention to him was ridiculous too. Then they had one of the safest series finales I've ever seen for a show that was supposed to be edgy and challenge the viewer in how they respond to Walt.

I don't think they quite lived up to what the premise could've been either. A square genius chemist in the meth game is an interesting premise, but the show lost believability pretty quick. Someone like that might make a lot of money selling drugs and survive, but not the way he did it. Making Macgyver chemical bombs to get out of situations, "say my name", etc. Sh1t was silly brehs.

I still like the show a lot. It's in my top 5 just off the quality of the acting, visuals, and tension of the really good episodes.

Seasons 5 and 7 are the GOAT level Shield seasons, I'd be surprised if you still think how you do now after you see 5.

I'd argue Boardwalk as well.

A year after the final season it's dawned on me I have very little interest in ever rewatching the series. I think the problem is Breaking Bad's strengths were creating scenarios for it's characters that had you on the edge of your seat wondering how they'd get out of it or what would happen next but once you know the outcome then there's not much incentive to rewatch.

Walt's character arc while interesting is clumsily handled on a number of occasions and way too heavy handed at times.

And for a such a popular show it amazes me how more annoying and unlikeable characters there are. Gus and Mike were the only characters in the show I wouldn't have enjoyed watching their heads get caved in with a fire extinguisher, that includes Walt and Jessie. That's not saying Walt wasn't a compelling character but an annoying one at times all the same.

And let's not even mention that mediocre ass run of the mill finale.

I'm just ranting, brehs. Don't even mind me. I'm sure this thread has been done a million times but I had to get it out, too much stannery going on :shaq2:

You make a good argument. I don't totally agree but i respect it.

I also think they show should have ended after Fring died.

Agree. The Breaking Bad hype has always been mind-boggling to me.

The Wire #1, Sopranos #2, everything else is fighting for #3.

BB is a second tier show, just like Boardwalk Empire

The Walking Dead etc. is third tier

Yeah mine to it didn't have many wasted episodes and each season felt different while keeping up with the shows plot. It will always just suffer from Vic Mackey's outlandishness, but he will always be a top 5 character to me.

Also gotta salute Forrest Whittaker for killing it as Kavanaugh:ohlawd:

Can't find this show streaming anywhere which is damn shame tho:beli:
