Safety nets that used to catch men and propel them into the middle class are disappearing. Specifically the blue collar jobs that once got you a house, car, family, etc. Boys are struggling in school and aren't keeping up with girls. Girls are going to college at higher rates as well. The results are a lot of young men who are burned out, have no ambition, and are ashamed and depressed about their lives. This is a recipe for bad things (fascism, war, etc).
Honestly I think boys and men are most impacted by the trend we've seen of perpetual adolescence. So much media is catered to adults who spend too much time doing shyt for kids. Comicbook movies, video games, Star Wars, IP after IP of kid shyt to obsess over. A lot of guys seem content to simply live comfortably enough to consume all of those things - meaning a shytty job and an apartment with a roommate forever. Men used to dream about building a home, buying a car, getting a girlfriend/wife...now we want to basically be 18 years old forever. Staying up late playing videogames, ordering pizza, having no social life. College nerd in a dorm life, basically.

Did this just happen in a vacuum? Or is something driving them to escapism? We see it with Gambling too. Dudes are gambling more than they're dating. Why do the things that makes used to dream about not seem so dreamy anymore?

On a serious note. They’ve been helping me since 18 not saying they help everyone but something snapped in me and I started taking my mental health seriously. Started seeing a therapist, meds, etc.
Yeah I'm not saying depression medication is bad but making the subject of this article about how males take less antidepressants and making that negative is disgusting.
