I think Donaire is their golden boy right now, they seem to hype him up the most.

while I agree and c/s this, Donaire as well as Sergio don't really have the selling power HBO is looking for IMO, although they are both p4p boxers.

Broner has the power to draw a crowd

Broner isn't really all that great, just over-hyped. Broner's defense has always been suspect and his reflexes/parrying aren't good, gets hit way too easy, especially when in a defensive shell or moving.

The lightweight division is also weak with sub-par competition which makes Broner seem much better than he is, but to his credit Broner's world class speed and power as a puncher helps him overcome opponents but if he moves up to another weight class or fights a decent counterpuncher with a little speed (Gavin Rees made Broner look sloppy last night, just had no power to do any damage to hurt Broner) and power it's over for Broner.

not that some of this isn't true but
they said the same thing when Broner was at 126, what's he do fight and beat the champion, said the same thing when he was at 130, whats he do fight and beat the champion, finally moves to 135 where theres apparently all these great fighters, and he fights and beats the champion and suddenly all the other fights and opponents are 'garbage'

Way too soon to tell.

I like him, but when it comes to boxing, I am NOT sold on anyone until they actually beat a legitimate threat. As long as they are giving him fights with predictable outcomes, I won't be sold.

However, understanding the game, he's young, he's learning. He has a chance to clean out 135 and not one of those guys have an actual chance of beating him. No sense in rushing him. Smart business. Still not sold

start watching after the DeMarco fight? b/c there were tons of people here and in the publications predicting that DeMarco would win and possibly even stop AB.
I will say while he's 'feeling the other guy out' and is working slowly he is vulnerable and wouldn't be able to do that against other p4p'ers, but once he finds that flaw its game over.

I only pay attention to my predictions I could care less what publications believe. If you have any sense and know anything about the game of boxing, you should KNOW Demarco had no chance nor does anyone at 135. Most people don't know shyt though

I am not the one to go by potential, I go by who you actually beat in the ring. I don't get caught up in hype. You see so many fans who actually get caught up in hype before these guys actually beat anyone. Than when they face someone decent, they are quick to say that fighter was exposed when in reality, he's finally being tested.

Now if he beat a Rio, Matthysse, hell even a lower tier 140 lber like a ****, that will get my attention.

As of now, he just beating guys he should beat & I actually agree with how he is developing so far.

lol these guys fight once or twice a year against handpicked guys. They are suppose to look good. You over there actually saying its game over for KOing Rees. Once he faces top guys those KO's will stop. He's still in the "KO overmatched opponents" developmental stage of his career.

Broner no doubt has the it factor as far as being a great boxer. He has the absolute natural skill set to be right there to take the reigns after Floyd and co. Of course he is still 23 and needs to get better, but most fighters still get better after that age. He isn't close to reaching his full potential. If he does, he will be great.

Of course he was gonna eat up DeMarco nobody at 135 got the chin to crack with Broner. He needs another fight and then should move up to 140 and we'll see where that goes, but I think he'd instantly be a top 5 140lb'er.
The only reason his opponents are overmatched still is because he's a beast cmon now.

It's a cycle. Divisions get hot & cold periodically. Right now, 135 is extremely cold. My fear is when he finally moves up, the guys at 140 will already be at 147. I'll admit he's good, but to be some sort of legend, which the OP is asking, you have to beat some top tier guys.

I guess we agree to disagree.

You can proclaim he is the real deal now.

I will wait once he beats a top tier fighter before I proclaim he's the real deal.

Canelo is the perfect example. He's a great talent. However, there has been some matching making there. Next fight looks to be Trout. An undefeated, legitimate 154 lber. He beats a guy like that he will look to be the real deal.

Dude Broner is the real deal, dude showed way more skills than Zab in his prime in my eyes, I don't think those comparisons are warranted. Dude was dropping Rees with single accurate shots. First two rounds he literally played with him, almost trying to give him hope like dude had a chance before he destroyed him.

He looks big for 135, I can see him moving up weight and dominating just the same for years to come. He only like 23 or something too, he the next P4P

Rapping needs to stop, I mean damn, he make Roy Jones Jr sound like Rakim. Other than that I don't mind the antics, Rees was actually motivated to fight because of the trash talk, and he did nikka like Bane did Batman in the sewers.

Well according to someone else on here, Rees exposed him last night. Would you agree with that assessment?
