MAYBE Avatar 2? I mean thats a strong maybe. I don't see another star wars having this impact because the novelty will have worn off. I feel like Avatar 2 is the next event film on that level. Batman Vs Superman is big but its not this big and it doesn't have the benefit of this which is basically 2-3 weeks of people being on vacation with their families, etc. So there's a lot of going to the movies especially if you got kids and need something to shut them up for 2 hours

No love at all for the possibility that Infinity War will crush buildings?

Why are some of you thinking infinity war could do it when

1. A2 made less than A1

2. Until marvel gets villains right they have probably plateaued at the box office

Breh.

Infinity War parts 1 and 2 will be the culmination of EIGHTEEN films two television show, 5 Netflicks specials, and more than 20 tie in comics. There is absolutely NO WAY IW is making less than A1 and with Thanos, they basically have their villian of villains (unless they get the F4 rights back, then that title reverts to Doom)

Infinity War is going to be one of the most anticipated films since....well since The Force Awakens... It definitely has a chance as a contender

I did a couple posts after it. Remembered that was a thing because it'll be an event. But it'll also depend on the stakes going in. Marvel has got to be sure at that point that the formula isn't stale and that there are real stakes with it. Just doing the same ole same ole won't get them passed that mark at all so it's one thing for it to be this big two part movie shot in imax but there's got to be real stakes and a sense of it. That's why the Harry Potter movies continued to do better and better but also get creatively better is because each movie after the 2nd was different from the one before it and each had a sense of dread and build to the climax which is why death hallows did what if did financially and critically. So there is something to what @Lord_Chief_Rocka is saying about the villain shyt. Thanos can't be a punchline and can't be a walking talking quip machine or get beat by a dance off. He's got to be Voldermort status

Idk bruh. Maybe but I think they need to move a little bit away from the marvel shtick. Up to this point I think they've done 11 and all of them except the winter soldier were very similar in tone. If they continue this I think their box office numbers will pretty much stay where they are now. They can't keep cracking jokes in the middle of an apocalypse situation:martin:

Infinity War might be it since that's essentially the season finale that all of these episodes have been building to for the past decade at that point lol. And it'll be in two parts
Why don't you think justice league could do it ?

"For the first time in forever (eighteen years), a film not directed by James Cameron will be the top-grossing film of all time in America. And for the first time in forever (forty years), a film not directed by James Cameron, George Lucas, or Steven Spielberg will be at the top of said list"
