Dude has had production company with deals for a few years now with Netflix and Peacock. That's where the money is, Producing.

this woulda did decent numbers 15 years ago. Really surprised an popcorn action, adventure comedy bombed.

Pretty sure that's what Phantom Menace did this year when it got re-released for it's 25th anniversary (and for like the fourth time since it's initial release....in limited, although still a lot of, theatres).

in the same late fun summer girl tough movies like tank girl.
Where I liked it more than tank girl.
Plus Kevin hart was actually a normal character
Oddly this summer movie season has shown us.
martin and Kevin both to be an enjoyable watch like they used to be.
Recommended.
Especially if you are like me and never played the game and have no frame of reference for this.
It is a video game movie.
So i expect the reviews to be a lie like world of warcraft.
not sure what hollywood has against videogame movies in general. Yet they just usually give videogame movies a bad review. unless it is owned by nintendo. With that said.

Movies about video games have gotten such a bad reputation over the decades that even a decent film would be criticized.
There's been far too many bad video game films:
The Super Mario bros from the 90s
Very disappointing Street Fighter with JVD
Mediocre Mortal Kombat followed by one of the worst movies ever in MK Annihilation
The whole Resident Evil saga that sucks
Doom with The Rock that flopped
Max Payne with Wahlberg
Tekken movie series where all of them suck
Need for Speed, which was one of the most boring movies I've ever seen
A whole bunch of Uwe Boll video game movies that all look retarded. Like it's a Disaster Movie/Meet the Spartans formula, just unbelievably bad. Legitimately some of the worst movies of all time.
And so on and so on.
It's a blatant money grab, expecting fans of video game to ignore all the movie mistakes and lazy writing, just because of them being hardcore video game fans.
Like it shouldn't be that hard to do. They got plenty of material to come up with a decent script and make a simple movie that makes video game fans feel good. That's all.
