Just finished up reading A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin
That joint was some fire right from the prologue to the end. I think I enjoy Tyrion's POV the most. I liked his cunning and he is a bit of a tragic character when you read between the lines of his quips. Jon's sections reminded me a bit of Kaladin's Bridge 4 sections from The Way of Kings.
Even though I only finished book 1, I think I'm now on board with people that are desperately hoping for George to finish the series

Louis L'Amour was THE western writer in his day. I haven't read his stuff but I will keep an eye out for his stuff the next time I go to a used book store

I envy your upcoming journeyIt's common to find a 'lot' of his books for sale online, like someone will have 60 books for $60. Yeah they are beat up and such but the stories are there. Some good stories if you like outlaws and such.
