Besides Marci, Boldy is prolly my fav rapper over tracks without percussion.

Guilt is so fire to me :ohlawd:
Guilt is a weird joint. It grew on me. It's like...he's not rapping to the tempo of the instrumental, but he still found a pattern. It's like he's purposefully moving in and out of the pocket. I saw someone write that Boldy was just "off beat" on Guilt and that it's a poor performance, but he clearly rapped that way on purpose. He's rapped over way weirder and trickier beats than this one.

Great adventures is crazy, shame it wasn’t longer.

Al gonna force some interesting conversations with this run he’s on
Absolutely. It's getting difficult for me because I've always thought Primo in his prime is literally the perfect producer, and no one has sounded better to me than that run he did from like 96 until 02 or so. And as far as album runs I still think RZA's 5 year run won't be topped. But at some point it also seems weird to not even open the conversation. I still got mixed thoughts on it.

But yeah...it's gonna get crazy. I think he's planning on continuing to release music at this pace for at least the next decade too. He's not slowing down. I think he has more songs released than any hip-hop producer. Madlib I think has more beat tapes out there that you can find. But as far as beats that have had vocals laid on them, I think Al might have the most at this point.

I know Alc just had a kid recently so I assume he's married also?

If so he must have the perfect support network around him in terms of family for him to consistently release so many projects. I dunno how he finds the time, she must just say do your thing and I'll take care of everything else.

How many beats must this dude make if we're just hearing the ones he chose for each project ... he must be making what 30 beats for each project?

I actually wondered too if him having a kid was part of the drive to fire on all cylinders and build for the fam while also having a support system. Good question.

I don't know how many beats he does for each project, but I do know he makes multiple beats daily, regardless of whether or not he's working on an album or not. Nottz, Khrysis, and 9th Wonder all do the same shyt, and just make beats anytime they have some free hours. I've heard 9th and Alc both call it shooting jumpers. Just getting more and more reps in.

I've also heard that Boldy will fly out and just stay at the house for a couple weeks at a time, and they'll just record music every day, and later on they'll decide what goes on what projects. With other artists sometimes it'll be more specific. Benny flew out there this fall to work heavy on Tana Talk 4. With that Armand Hammer album, Al said he made less beats for it than usual but was more deliberate with the ones he made. And he said he does hold a lot of beats to the side for Boldy these days.

Yeah most producers who I've studied tend to say the same shyt. 9th said he heard that Pete Rock has a 3 beats per day rule and so he decided to try and do 5 a day etc. Pretty much all the best producers follow the same pattern ... knwxledge and madlib too .... just create 24/7 whenever they can. I remember Madlib being asked a question about how he does it having kids to look after and he just said something like, she does all that, I just sit there with my headphones in doing my thing.

I make my own beat tapes also and I tried to follow 3 per day rule and for me its hard because unless I find a sample I absolutely am feeling then I wont want to make the beat. But its all about getting your 10,000 hours in I guess ... plus making beats with samples you dont feel 100% can end up working in your favor.

These dudes are a massive inspiration in many ways.

Damn that's really cool info. Funny Madlib quote too. I heard that in his voice as I read it lol

I'm gonna go out on limb and say the kid has alot to do with it. And alot of his friends has kids.

As far overall goat, i been said its between uncle Al and Madlib. Im old af and definitely remembered the impact of the primo and rza runs. There's other note worthy hip hop producers as well. But sheer longevity and still being current? Those 2 have it locked down

I thought this was going to be some leftovers but I was wrong. I didn’t even think it was a album. I think what would make this a little bit better is some features, other then that al and boldy never miss. Moth in the flame is too ill. Francois and that are my two faves on this album

edit: I just realized the two comments above me both said al/boldy can’t miss lol. I didn’t see those till after I posted.
