I feel you on that. I think it's an unintentional result of the same people recording at the house with the same people. It's almost like we've got an unofficial crew that just doesn't have a name. I understand not wanting to deal with emailing verses and stuff, but I feel like there might be too much of an insistence on recording in person.

I love TPOT though so having most of the features be the same doesn't bug me too bad. And I wouldn't mind some more fresh blood besides Stove God. Ultimately I get your point though, and I agree. I'd like some surprise features on some of these albums.

Exactly! It feels like I know who would be on this before I saw the tracklist. My favorite feature from the M1CS album was Freeway because it was something I never would have thought to ask for but it ended up working really well imo.

All the TPOTIC features were done in-person? Didn't know that. For some reason, felt the Gibbs verse sounded like it was cut and paste.

There may be an exception here or there, but for the most part Al has kind of developed a big thing for wanting to record in person after spending 10+ years doing placements for people, submitting beats, emailing verses, etc. I've heard he's turned down a lot of bags because people just wanted him to email stuff. I think at this point it's easier to be a lower level artist and work with him by being out there in person than being a bigger artist that wants to pay for a batch of beats emailed. Even the few records he did for Nas a couple years ago (one was on Lost Tapes 2) came about when Nas went out to SoCal in person.

He's in his own little world out there, and I'm sure you're right. It's possible Gibbs didn't record Snort in person. Maybe there's some emailing here or there, but the vast majority of everything the past 5+ years has been done in person.

Freeway killed that. Freeway was a great surprise on there and definitely killed that joint. For anyone that hasn't heard it.

Very interesting. Follow him closely on IG so know his crib has become one of the central points for recording in SoCal. Believe most of Reloaded was recorded there. Glad he insists on in-person features. Artists can actually build off each other and their verses that way.
