I mean looking at some numbers :
RBLX is at 61 from its ATH of 140
COIN is at 160 from its ATH of 370
BYND is at 55 from s ATH of 190
JMIA is at 7 from its ATH of 60
ADBE is at 485 from its ATH of 680
TSLA is at 860 from its ATH of 1255

Plenty of companies already lost 30 to 50% or from their ATH. Now their ATH were way overvalued but I dont see how current prices arent already acceptable value for companies with good fundamentals. Prices may drop even further but I think starting to buy now is a good option if you're aiming long term.

It's not catching knives or trying to time to bottom IMO but averaging down starting from a point low enough compared to the top.

I feel for the brehs who are going to owe on cap gains from last year soon and are getting raped right now. Luckily (or not...), I didn't sell much last year.

That's gonna add further downward selling pressure. Especially with crypto and fools that took out loans agains their portfolios.

probably wait until it bottoms out, but what is the bottom?

You won't really know a bottom until 6-8 months after the bottom actually happens and we can look back at the data.

Some of these companies are 40, 50, 60, 70, 80% down from last year, what more do y'all want in some of these names ? Waiting for it to lose 99% of value? :mjlol:

If these growth stocks (the ones that are profitable and now undervalued) have a V-shape recovery. You will be back to buying at tops again waiting for another dip.

People did this from 2002-03 while growth stocks continued declining from down 30% to down 50% to down 80-100%.

bold are companies i'd actually wait until signs of recovery to invest in, they were so far detached from fundamentals, i couldn't feel ok DCA'ing into them on the way down. TSLA i have hesitation about as well, it always recovers but i'm not sure it will be allowed to live at the multiple it was trading at these past 2 years

trying to time it is the biggest question mark. should we be looking at btc to predict the beginning of a reversal or what other potential indicators?

Yeah definitely BTC because of the contagion effect. While over-leveraged BTC continue getting margin calls, what are they gonna be forced sell to cover those loans? Stocks, regardless of the underlying fundamentals. The Buffet indicator is good too.

Definitely agree except for JMIA :mjcry:

What I meant was that catching an IPO stock around it's intro price is a good entry point and that theres only so much a solid company can lose.

RBLX IPO was supposed to be 45 and price is now 60.
COIN IPO was at 250 it is now 170
BYND was 25 and they are now 55 (but not a fan of plant based meat stocks myself)

It's good territory to start averaging down or build a position.

What are you basing that on? After the dot-com bubble, solid companies like MSFT lost over 50%.

So... how come they dont freeze the market when it freefalls like this? Only when we make money, right?
We aren't there yet. When we hit those levels, you will know... trust
Stock market exchanges can also halt trading to stop panic selling thanks to new regulations put in place following the "Flash Crash" of 2010. Market-wide circuit breakers come into effect when the benchmark S&P 500 Index drops 7% or more in a single day. Level 1 circuit breakers come into effect with 7% declines, with Level 2 hitting when declines top 13%, and Level 3 is triggered on days when the market drops 20%. Level 1 and 2 circuit breakers will halt trading for 15 minutes, but will not halt trading after 3:25 p.m. ET. After a Level 3 breach, exchanges will remain halted for the rest of the trading day.
How do stock trading halts and market circuit breakers work?.
