Unless you're pirating if you rotate through services as they have the shows you want or don't then a home base is still needed.

You say I'm out of touch and call Netflix quality into question but they have hundreds of millions of subs and grow that number with an allegedly shyt quality of shows. The reason for that is simple for cord cutters Netflix is the default streaming platform.

If all these other better quality services are around why aren't Netflix subs more cyclical?
you can pirate or get streaming tv service for a lower cost than cable and no contracts

and the argument of netflix success vs it being the actual content leader aren't the same. yes, it has first move advantage, it's also the most popular family share platform...people keep it because it's a catch all that's usually being accessed by more than one household and services a wide net of viewers (edit: your next post you say you're one of these exact people...). and kids play a big part in this, disney+ and netflix are going to do well because parent's always want tv to babysit their kids and they lead in kids entertainment. you talk to adults and you're going to find a lot of more variance, hbo, and to an extent, fx, are putting out the best adult content, plus with hbo you get access to premium movies, not the 1-2 yr post theatrical release and trash/b-list titles you get on netflix. and 150M people are prime subscribers, which means they have access to prime which has a similar mix as netflix as well as the ability to rent movies on demand...

I'm thinking of selling some BB at $13 and then buying some back when/if it goes down to below $12 again :patrice:
