Imo I dont think a lot of newer retail investors either dont understand, or dont have the patience for fractional shares.

A new investor with $150 to invest every month is more likely to buy shares of Apple post split in the $100 range than they are to buy 1/4 of an Apple share each month in order to build their portfolio.
