This cop is dead wrong. I saw a similar scenario on a 'Cops', where a black dude was reaching around in the car, the cop maced him and he crashed the car...but he was still alive.

There is nothing that could have been done differently. That cop was on a mission to fukk somebody up whether it was by baton, fist and foot, or bullets.

the guy told him he did not have a license on him and he could run his name (since he knew he was in the system)
that was not good enough
I have been stopped without my license
forgot it in the envelope right after getting new registration at the dmv
the cop gave me a summons, all I had to do was go in and show my license and proof of insurance
and I did not have to pay anything since my license existed, I just did not have it on me at the time
this is not a get out of the car and let me handcuff you situation
he was wrong for even doing that

You can clearly tell the cop is a coward and based on how cops are trained to take anything and everything as a threat, even more so with Black males, it's clear why he shot. the officer could have (and this is the least that he could have done) stepped back, pulled out his weapon and ordered him to get out of the car and warn him that he will shoot him
this is one of a myriad of scenarios that, even though make little sense in the circumstances, make more sense than what the cop did, that is the good common sense we should be discussing because that is the one that has the more dire consequence, that is the one needed to be wielded by the "authority" figure

consider that, given the sequence and timing of his actions, he made up his mind that if the guy does not let me pull him out of the car I am going to shoot him
Dubose was dead the minute he pulled his door closed.

Wtf is there to understand? These cops are trying to wipe you out and are using every excuse to do so. Patterns have been observed. It doesn't matter what you do, you will be killed when they feel like it. That's how the world works.
