They're gonna have to fall back with that shyt like they did with charging for Apple CarPlay and not offering OTA updates.

BMW is out here acting like they're Porsche, I won't shed any tears when they get lapped by Asian manufacturers :hubie:

BMW make the most technologically advanced high end saloon cars. Even ahead of Tesla.

BMW doesn’t have a car that’s fully autonomous available to the general public with OTA downloads. They ain’t that advanced, bruh. They’re only good at making simple shyt more complicated than it needs to be...

You have to goto the dealer for everything. Even random stuff like oil changes and light bulbs. That’s how BMW operates. You know that’s how they plan on doing updates by scheduling an appointment with the dealer.

yeah, that John Deere shyt is the way of the times with tech advances in all fronts. Folks don’t know, but this has been in the making for awhile. Home inkjet printers now have chips in the cartridges so you can’t use generic cartridges and you can’t even refill them b*stards at Costco anymore. You can barely set the printers to print in draft to save ink and you might get 200 pages out of a $40 cartridge.
Keurig used to have chips in their coffee pods a couple years ago using the same method as the ink jet printer companies. That shyt didn’t go far at all and there was an consumer outrage that made them drop that shyt quick, fast, and in a hurry.
How about your streaming services for music and tv? See a pattern and how it’s changed over the past couple years?
All these companies are switching to a sustainable income model on their products.
the generic cartridge manufacturers are putting the chip in too to get past it. i have a couple brother printers and buy generic ink cartridges for them for under 10 bucks for all 4 colors. but the best printer product to come out recently for me is the epson ecotank, no cartridges just refilling ink.

Blue tooth, Apple Music and Siri.

and I use the indash nav or waze on my phone.

All I’m saying is, u have options. I had CarPlay in my last car and never used it.
You're essentially defending them charging hundreds of dollars for a feature offered free by most of the industry, by listing a bunch of work arounds that aren't as efficient as carplay.

Why?

Dog, every car doesn't come with car play. I still plug up and press the ipod tab. :mjlol:.

When I had CarPlay in my last car I never used it because it does the same thing as other systems. I use Waze or Google maps for nav. Using them on CarPlay us redundant.

And yall act like no other software can do what carplay does. In most cars, getting CarPlay depends on what trim model u get. So you actually save money by getting a lower trim without the navigation and CarPlay

I got a 2019 pathfinder and saved thousands by just getting the base model.

I just use blutooth or the aux cord... I dont see the big deal in this carplay, it sounds like a useless feature...:ld:

First, it seems like you dont even understand what CarPlay/android auto is. You wouldn't need to pay for navigation with CarPlay.

And regardless of how useful you feel it is, it's a feature that cost next to nothing to implement in cars so there's literally no reason to defend them charging hundreds of dollars for it, especially if its already installed in the car and just has to be activated by software.

CarPlay essentially screen mirrors your phone so you can control your phone with the dashboard. You dont need to touch your phone once connected. Whatever navigation app you use on your phone shows up on your dash so you dont need the shytty navigation system that comes in most cars.

It's not a needed feature but it cost almost nothing to implement so it doesn't make sense to charge so much for QOL features.

I'm not defending them :dahell:

It should come standard along with a lot of other features. When I had a 2017 Maxima it came with the base model. It didn't come with the base model Pathfinder.

These auto makers are greedy b*stards. That's why cars are so expensive.
