Companies are moving to that because consumers have zero protection. shyt they been trying to stop people from fixing their own shyt for years. shyt John Deere was so ridiculous with it that the dumb redneck farmers had to learn how to hack their shyt and put chinese software to stop them. This is exactly what that uncle tom dead7 prefers too.
What???

VICE - Farmers Are Buying 40-Year-Old Tractors Because They're Actually Repairable

Farmers are at the center of right-to-repair, a grass-roots consumer movement that says people should have the right to repair their own stuff. When a John Deere tractor breaks down, John Deere requires its owner to take it to an authorized dealer for repairs. Apple wants the same for its iPhones and recently told Congress that people would hurt themselves if they repaired their own stuff. Democratic Presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders have both called for national right-to-repair laws.

Thats everything almost.
Most things you buy even a toaster i believe.
Check the instructions manual, if you open the device like your toaster you void your warranty.

Blue tooth, Apple Music and Siri.

and I use the indash nav or waze on my phone.

All I’m saying is, u have options. I had CarPlay in my last car and never used it.
I don’t understand. All of that stuff is built into car play. It even allows you to use the built in mic and talk button on the steering wheel for Siri. You should give it a try.

that's not the same thing. people who want to repair their own products don't care about a warranty.
I remember a law not too long ago where you could not be seen repairing your own car as you would be taking business away from a mechanic.

Dont know if it still exists

yeah, that John Deere shyt is the way of the times with tech advances in all fronts. Folks don’t know, but this has been in the making for awhile. Home inkjet printers now have chips in the cartridges so you can’t use generic cartridges and you can’t even refill them b*stards at Costco anymore. You can barely set the printers to print in draft to save ink and you might get 200 pages out of a $40 cartridge.
Keurig used to have chips in their coffee pods a couple years ago using the same method as the ink jet printer companies. That shyt didn’t go far at all and there was an consumer outrage that made them drop that shyt quick, fast, and in a hurry.
How about your streaming services for music and tv? See a pattern and how it’s changed over the past couple years?
All these companies are switching to a sustainable income model on their products.

BMW ahead of the tech and design curve .. again :francis:
:mjlol:

They're gonna have to fall back with that shyt like they did with charging for Apple CarPlay and not offering OTA updates.

BMW is out here acting like they're Porsche, I won't shed any tears when they get lapped by Asian manufacturers :hubie:

They're introducing DLC now. Next it will be day 1 updates. Then loot boxes. In the end we'll have new cars that are nothing but the same model they've been selling for 5 years but with updated firmware.

Capitalism :stylin:

:russ: FACTS.... just dont buy BMW's anymore and tell them why...:ld:
