But how many Black shows are there dealing with First World Problems? Larry David has literally got 10 seasons of an all-time great show off, dealing with the absolute ultimate First World problems, but he's not expected to cover the entirety of Jewish life in 30 minute bites.

Personally, I believe that there are a bunch of different Black stories to be told, that don't reflect a single experience.. :manny:

We happen to live in a time where there are a ton of them on TV as well. There's shows like Last OG and South Side, which are comedies that speak to blue collar Black life. There's shows like Atlanta, Insecure and She's Gotta Have It which speak to modern Black life for young people. There's Black superhero shows, like Black Lightning - shyt a Black Superhero movie is one of the highest grossing movies of all time There's Black led dramas like 'How To Get Away With Murder' and 'All Rise'. There's shows that speak to a gay Black audience like 'Twenties'. There's Black soap operas like 'Empire'. Power just got a bunch of spinoffs. There's Black sketch shows like 'Sherman's Showcase' and 'A Black Lady Sketch Show'. There's Black Horror flicks like 'Get Out' which speak to some of the fears that Black people have - because they are definitely more nuanced than a slow moving psychopath in a hockey mask, with a machete.

Not all of them speak directly to me, but I generally give them a shot.

In the UK, there's cop dramas with Black leads, like Luther and Bulletproof. I watched South African shows like 'Agent' and 'Queen Sono' on Netflix which both had a totally different feel from American shows too.

I guess what I'm saying is I don't get why there's almost an unspoken rule that Black created content has to encompass everything about being Black.

As a bougie black show aficionado, I’m in.

:unimpressed:

And this is Kenya’s ex wife just incase anyone doesn’t understand why he casts the wives he does.

Im not complaining about it, just saying it in there, it's a bit too preachy and whiny, but I'll continue watching
