We had movies like Boys in The Hood, which wasnt just about gangs

The funny shyt is you probablyncantneven do movies like that convincingly any more because of the actor and directors that are getting put on

Yes, shyt is make believe but someone on set has to have an actual frame of reference

Boys in the hood was damn near 30 years ago....why i said contemporary tv...theres was a humane nuance to black programing black then...i theorize because it wss still a relatively new and niche concept

I saw most of the first season of the chi...the characters were varied...but thats a difficult assessment...the only reason you can sell a "the chi" is because of the profitable caricatures associated with black Chicago...

But miss Evanston didnt have it lookin foolish i gotta give her that!

I gave Blackish a try, the dialogue on that show made it seem like he was making fun of the black experience.

Wanna be like us?...thats an interesting way to put it...maybe if we were reduced to particular physical features attire and song and dance routines n patterns of speech.

The older ive grown, the less n less ive come to view that as flattering in regards to white people..feels moreso like a tacky fetish..folks be feeling like they can predict your personality cause they listen to Tupac n wear jordans...and/or slept with some black ppl..but to each his own

Which kinda circles back to my point...there seems to be limited confines which we're 'consumable ' here

Just saw the trailer for this. I was sold off the skype call with all the Black directors taking shots at each others' work

Damn near anything which features a grip of Black talent, I'll check out on the strength, and I have a soft spot for shyt like 'Curb' with people playing fictionalized versions of themselves.
