apparently the movie he's talking about in episode 5 is
sorry to bother you
which makes sense
That doesn't really make sense to me, because the demographic that he played the movie for at his house, is the same type of people who weren't high on Sorry To Bother You... that movie wasn't even popular like that.

I thought it was about Queen and Slim from a few lines that were dropped here and there
:jbhmm:

That's probably not right either because the movie in the show was getting rave reviews from the critics... so the more I think about it, the last black movies that were getting 90%+ on RTs were films like Get Out, Blackkklansmen, and Moonlight...

EDIT: I just checked, Sorry to Bother You is at 93% on RTs

I fukked with that movie heavy, but I don't remember a lot of casual black viewers going to see it compared to the others mentioned.

I thought he played the movie that everybody was raving about that he just saw at the show. He only brought up Green Book when he was on the video call.

I added to my original post as well.

I don't think it is Queen and Slim because it didn't get rave reviews like that. I think Get Out is a high possibility. Both Sorry to Bother You and Get Out got the rave reviews described in the episode.

i'll watch the ep again but i think i remember kenya talking about green book and his mom was like what's green book?
then he was like hold on we're watching it.

:ohhh::ohhh::ohhh:

I was wondering what movie he was upset with, I had 0 guesses.
I havent seen sorry to bother you, does it get wild at the end?:pachaha:

if you really want to know

it's basically about this breh that works for a sales company trying to move up in the ranks . it has great commentary on straight black men in corporate America and what you have to do to succeed.

but around the third act of the movie, it turns out that the company he's working for turns people into horse people and works them like "work horses" there's a whole underclass of horse people that the world doesn't know about. then the movie turns into him trying to stop himself from turning into a horse person while running away from the c

"Am I trash???"

shyt so funny cause I recently had this conversation with creatives, like nobody in your circle is going to just tell you your shyt is trash... and I was like maybe it shouldn't be that way, but people are so sensitive that it's hard to give real feedback and criticism on projects because of exactly what he was breaking down in that episode.

There really wasn’t any movie. He was just using a fake movie to start conversation. He was on T.I podcast talking about some black creatives getting a pass cause they ride the black wave and white people being scared to criticize them. He was trying to say that black people have to be able to hold themselves to a standard and at the same time allow for people to enjoy trash. Just like they do with Adam Sandler type movies aka tyler perry and Madea. He had a good point.

last 2 episodes were the best but I still hate him as an actor. I actually don’t like anyone on the shoes character at all. I watch to see Kenya’s gear.

bytch that works at his office is cute and Tae Heckard was looking scrumptious.

funniest line of the show to me was “Bahamas is like the orlando of the carribean”. I felt that in my soul.
