Alright so I work for a volunteer organization that's all black. We provide tutoring services for elementary through high school students. Been asked to change our name that we've had since the late 70s because "Black" is in the title.

Always getting asked if we're teaching hate. We help out all kids regardless of race but we add an emphasis on black history in addition to their regular classwork. Funny to see little white kids say that they wanna be black men when they grow up because we're smart and good people.

As soon as anyone involved in the school district hears the word 'black', there's a noticeable change in their demeanor. Makes people uncomfortable. I'm always surprised (maybe I shouldn't be) at how even black administrators are turned off by it. I'm not gonna say there is an active effort to deny education of black history, but they sure aren't encouraging of it or receptive to it at all.

Yeah, black people in those positions are the most turned off by it because when you say Black you are shining a spotlight on them (they feel) and it makes them uncomfortable.

Most of these posters don't work with black children or black or white educators. They don't understand the mentality behind the manipulation that sparked the Need for African centered research and ideas. The can't understand why any person would be pro black. If a meeting is set up at my job and the attendees are notified that I'm the POC for it.... my name seems white as hell. So when I show up it's just funny the reaction I get. There are times I could call or connect on LinkedIn ahead of time - I don't because I'm black and you can lose business this way. In school it's not emphazied that Egypt was an African civilization. It's clearly in Africa but I've heard actually college professors at MSU alluded to other BS ideas.

Regardless, its seems that none of these people have actually spoken to a black student about black history. The average black student will say sh1t about MLK and those movements and leave it at that. Meanwhile we know the entire white washed history of Europe, and America.

This covers so many levels of the problem. You have both black and white students learning zero black history and pumped full of nothing but bad stereotypes. Honey Boo Boo is considered abnormal for the white community, but some dope head on Cops is a fair representation of the black community. Crazy how someone can be in college and not know shyt about black history. Upsetting but you almost can't blame them. Sat next to a basketball player in a black history class and this dude barely knew where Africa was on a map.

So we sent out some worksheets with some fifth graders one time. It was basically that list of black inventors and stuff like that. Had a black mother threaten to pull her kid out of our program because there was no way blacks could have done all that and we were lying to the child. "nikkas ain't that smart." I'm not a parent but how absent minded do you have to be to not know the impact that has on your kid? Damn near seems like we get more negative feedback from black women than white or Hispanic.

That's cool and all and I like and have read the work of many of the same people. I have the books of Garvey, Malcolm X, DuBois, and Fanon on my shelf.

I am only against inaccurate history or science with an agenda, regardless of whatever the source or the agenda is. Buddha was not black nor were Olmecs. Nor did Alexander the Great conquer Africa with an army of mulattos. Nor does melanin make one superior. Nor is there any genetics-based truth to "race" being more than a social construct for any tangible intents and purposes.

Revising history and science to try and inaccurately paint blacks as superior though factually false means is a sad imitation of the white supremacy that's victimized us. What makes it even more sad is that a lot of it is Eurocentric at its core, because it seeks to attach blackness, and form some sort of kinship with olive-skinned, straight-haired people all over just because they're not white, when the majority of us are descendents of west Africa, not Kushytes, or Moors, of Indians, or Olmecs.
