Since Tomlin decided that current Arizona Cardinals’ head coach and then Steelers’ offensive coordinator Bruce Arians needed to retire, Tomlin has a 22-20 record. In that same time, Arians has led the Colts (interim head coach) and the Cardinals to a 28-10 record.

Here's the best I can do to break this down.....

There's a very high turnover rate of QBs in the league (and really all positions with a 3.5 year career average). Of all 32 starting QBs, at any given time there are only 5-8 elite ones. The smaller (but growing) number of black starting QBs combined with the innate high turnover of the position will in turn create a higher proportion of black QBs being benched, than non-black QBs. You don't even need to do a big fact check to understand this point.

Why do you keep repeating this as if it wasn't explicitly accounted for in the study? We're not dealing with 2 or 3 black qbs to 100s of white QBs, the ratio is about 1:4. It doesn't matter what the overall turnover rate is, what matters is the ratio of black QB turnover to white QB turnover. If there was no racial discrimination, we would be seeing about a 1:1 turnover ratio, not double that. I don't know how you can so casually dismiss racial discrimination as an underlying factor in light of the general atmosphere of racial discrimination in America...unless you don't believe American society is inherently racist? NFL teams are businesses highly dependant on public support, so if your fan base is seeing blacks as inherently unfit for leadership positions and express that sentiment in overt or covert ways, that's obviously going to have an effect on the decision making of the teams. Just go to any football comment section or fan board and see how they talk about black QBs. Most white people are inherently uncomfortable with them.
