MJB did a good job portraying being from Oakland. I might have found his performance a bit flat if he were supposed to be from anywhere else or wasn't familiar with how people really are that are from out here however. I wish they didn't use that generic cgi housing project and used an actual identifiable oakland location instead. That church at the end looked like the one in the fruitvale/dimond district, but that surroundings definitely weren't the area it's in though.

Loved the movie. Gonna see it again tmw. BUT my only gripes were technical and not story based.

1. The fight choreography wasn’t the best we’ve seen in a marvel movie (see winter soldier.) would’ve been cool to see some unhand to hand martial arts between BP and Killmonger instead of just brawling/trading blows.

2. Some of the CGI wasnt that great and kinda took me out of the moment (BP vs Killmonger underground).

3. I don’t think Ryan chose the best cinematographer for this type of movie. It’s cool he stayed loyal to his people (the white chick did Fruitvale, DOPE, and Mudbound) I wish he could have used the same guy the Russo’s used for winter soldier and civil war.

These things don’t keep it from being a GOAT Marvel film, but they may effect the way it ages over time.

Fight choreography was def lacking....should have brought in WS level fights scenes. Zoomed in too close and tried to be too edgy.

Still 10/10

Tbh, there's more than a few things in this movie that kind of made me raise my eyebrow while watching it, whether it be fitting an "agenda", or coddling white folks. I got lots of good feelings from this movie too, don't get me wrong, but this is the thread to point out the stuff that isn't that.

I only have two gripes: the fight scenes could have been better and Killmonger, in black people's heart of hearts, was a hero. Even T'Challa low key came around to his point of view about Wakanda' s isolationism and non interference.

it was weak bro, because the dora milajie was there to handle that aspect of combat
