I don't think there's any upside in showing your vulnerabilities to anyone. :francis:

You don't have to be a robot but some stuff you just have to manage on your own

Find a constructive outlet or speak with a paid professional if need be
I have stop showing them because people simply don't care. Even people I loved with whole heart. I've camed to learned that people won't give you the same love you give them. So instead of falling in despair I found a outlet that has taken off for me. It was a gift. I'm very happy now because i turned my weakness into a strength.

I've always hated opening up to people and talking about emotions. It's been years since I last tried that and I don't plan on doing it again.

Most people just give captain obvious responses to get on with their day and think they're actually doing something supportive from my experience or they simply don't care.

A lot of times I feel better about thinking on my own and I would be even more frustrated after talking to people since it felt like they just wasted my time. Maybe talking to a professional is better but the average person sucks at giving advice or helping with emotional support.

Maybe you dudes have people that actually give good advice and support, but every body doesn't have that luxury so that's why some people don't bother with opening up :manny:

If you speak/act from the heart you'll know when it's time for you to be vulnerable with someone or when to allow someone to be vulnerable with you. Vulnerability takes a great amount of courage.

A Villa Straylight.
Assuming you are a young black male, young black males are the single most stereotyped group on planet earth.

You venture outside of the box you'll get labeled as weird, not black enough or even "gay". Shyt can be tough.
Case in point. People in this thread.

You got people in the hood both men and women walking around straight up traumatized from the things they've had to go through (Many of us don't even realize it). And then we wonder why some of our Brothas and Sistas lash out. Black folk in this country go through terrible ordeals and then are expected to just take it and keep it pushin. Wow.

Yep, Black men are not allowed to be flawed human beings striving for self-improvement.
We live in a society that literally wants to erase our existence and yet we aren't allowed to be emotional, have personality flaws, or deal with mental illness.
The worst is when people give up on you because of that but I can only worry about myself.
I was never taught how to regulate my emotions so I grew up suppressing them often until shyt would swell up inside. Its been a process but I've gotten much better at evaluating how I'm feeling and attempting to address whatever it is making me feel a certain way.

Pretty much me and the crazy thing is I have a father in my life and I can't even express how I feel as a man to him. He would always talk about "men don't show any weakness" and when I try to talk to him about my potential wife cheating on me he always told me to "man up" and "plenty of fishes in the sea". I went through a course of depression and I try to talk to him about it but he doesn't want to hear that. My mom is always there for me but I need that father and son talk.

Luckily I went to seek some help by a professional black man.

I agree with op. It needs to be address.

When my mom passed I went to see my cousin, we cracked a brew, a blunt and just sat and talked.

He had lost his brother a year before that but that's moms...and it was right after she died so he held a space for me to vent. And I did...but I'm perceptive. I watch body language closely....by the time I got 5 minute into my venting about losing my mother I looked at him, he looked like he was going to pass out.

Not from the weed or the beer but from feeling what I was feeling. I saw how he was physically reacting, like he was drained and I kinda backed off the conversation. He did what he thought would help...I'd be willing to bet the people in your life are doing the same but it is literally draining to have a one way conversation with someone and get wraped up into their emotions.

Professionals can help because they know how to hold that space and be objecyive...the know how to disconnect, a lot of people are wide open in that sense...they feeling what you're saying and walking away feeling down too. Not your fault but that's probably what's happening.

As someone who's been through a lot...the thing that has helped me process my own shyt the most is helping people with their shyt, it kind of created a feedback loop for me.

Crying and holding hands ain't gon pay my mom's bills
It ain't gon out me through school
It ain't gon help me get a job/generate income and provide for my family:hubie:

This neg ain't gonna pay your moms bills, get you through school or increase your income but, you still catching it.

If this post doesn't apply to you then keep it pushing but, stop arguing with nikkas about how THEY feel.
