I'm not asking for sympathy but I've noticed a large of young black men dealing with this. I'm not talking about introvert internet addicts. But normal young black men. I got a homie right now dealing with it and he looks like a normal guy. It's just sad that nobody cares about the pain a lot of us deal with.

How can we claim to be pro black when we don't even care when our brothers are hurting?
I'm depressed too nikka but I can't let that stop me
Our sisters hurting
Our kids are hurting

I never said stopping or give up. I just want a better understanding between our people is all. Trust I'll never quit and I'm a firm believer in protecting black woman and children. But I also realise that we need healthy black men to be the leaders we're supposed to be. How can the head lead when it is sick?

I used to really struggle with vulnerability and showing emotions, but I really don't give a fukk anymore. I'm a human and if someone wants to try me because I'm showing emotion these hands ready. :francis:

I do have depression sometimes, but I find working out and getting out of my head really helps me with that. But shyt is still tough, I constantly have to push myself through the depression, weed helps but usually it feels more like a band aid. When I stop smoking reality hits me like a ton of bricks, which is why I try not to smoke unless I'm really depressed.

does it make a difference? what if she was white, would you be more open or less open ?

OT: But it actually does. Plenty of studies show there is an empathy gap when Black people are serviced by non-Black therapist and really any profession such as doctors and teachers. Who better to understand your perspective than someone who is dealing with the same system of White supremacy?

Tired of that just suck it up and get over it passive aggressive shyt. Fam we are normal too and it ain't healthy

to me most of the pain lies because nobody really cares, it can't be healthy to constantly have to struggle keeping depressive thoughts out of your head

if the majority of society showed more empathy shyt wouldn't be so bad, it's like you against the world being a black man, but that's why I keep pushing

Vulnerabilities are apart of being human. We have been stripped of our humanity. We have to be perfect because we're vulnerable at damn near every turn. Our fukks up get blown out of proportion, even when we don't fukk up other groups have the discretion to discern whether or not we fukked up.
Double consciousness is easily one of the facets of being black that I hate the most.

Absolute truth. I dealt with a lot of depression and self-hatred when I was younger. As I got more knowledgeable and observant about why I hated myself, it had two-fold effect. I love myself more but it also hurts even more because you realize how much you feel hated by everyone else out there.

It's like black men are held to impossible standards and put into no-win situations while also being shytted on for being in those situations. Our triumphs are minimized and erased or even warped to celebrate other groups.

The black man has been conquered in this society.

A lot of brotha low-key feel that there's nothing to live for.

And black men with knowledge have either given or written off the black community for a number of reason.

And you wonder why do many dudes only concern they self with bytches and money.

A lot of nikkas have given up and are defeated

For those that have "given up" on the black community...you fukked up trying to juggle the entire black communities problems. That defeat comes along with something that you just can't do...you can't 'fix' black people. What you can do is fortify yourself, become a formidable individual and then hip the next man to your formula...then tell him to hip somebody else, then hip somebody else...I understand the urge to want to do something to fix your people but while you sitting there trying to solve that 5,000 piece puzzle you could have been working on you...you could have built something that could offer a job to black man. Always keep what you can do/how you can give back in mind but get yours. That isn't your burden to shoulder...being black should not be a burden. I think if we kinda get out of that mentality it would ease some of the pressure so smarter decisions can be made, pathways to freedom can be discovered, but it's gonna be hard to find those pathways with the weight of the entire black diaspora on your shoulders.

Give up on the 'burden' of blackness, not black people, definitely not yourself.
