Yeah but like i said, yall are not doing your own hair either. At least not the ones that i know. Even the ones with dreads have some one to retwist it for them. Most of the girls i know do it theirselves . Im not tryna make excuses tho. I dont think anyone can take care of my hair the way that i do, especially now that its natural and fragile as hell. So even if it takes all day(and it has) i do my own hair. I dont do none of that crazy stuff tho. Braids, buns and african threading is my thing. Plus i wear alot of wraps and beanies. Simple stuff. I have way to much hair. Every one thinks my hair is so thick but really its a bunch of fine stands densely packed on a big ass head lol

I'm growing mine out again for locks and this is the easiest way to style it at the moment.

Yup when they think curly natural hair what they don't tell you is that they really mean this

NOT this

Then got the nerve to be talking about natural hair when most shave themselves practically bald, so that they don't have to "deal" with it. Then the ones with long natural hair are like "well I did it why can't you"? Knowing damn well that they only wore one style for 3 years, and barely touched their hair. Something people would call women crazy for doing. It'll be "why don't you switch your style up" and "you should change your hair". Manipulation is the mortal enemy of natural hair, and when women find a low manipulation hairstyle (weave) it's a problem? Then the big elephant in the room... blacks have been told that their hair is less than, unkempt, unprofessional, and a whole other host of negative things for centuries. Of course some people are going to believe that indoctrination. But, no let's worry about women who don't wear their natural hair and make fun of them instead of doing something like educating our people and building a black economy. Oh, and all this Is coming from someone with natural hair. :stopitslime:

both of those hair styles are equally sexy to me. :manny:

No because it's our natural hair.

If nikkas went outside with ryan gosling lookin ass wigs that would be self hate lol

And you making hella excuses too :francis:

to leave things in their natural state means no alteration or manipulation, right? i feel confident that we're all able to agree there....so choosing to cut your hair or do anything to it aside from let it grow is not NATURAL. just because you don't like what i say or agree with it doesn't mean i'm wrong or making excuses....and im also curious about that because excuses on whose behalf? anyone who means something to me on here knows it already and i maintain a relationship with them offline....soooooo no bread there

also, i've been apart of this website and beyond for more years than i care to admit (eyeroll) so i know these types of debates always end on these weird notes where i'm sure to be accused of every type of wrong doing simply because im sharing my insight and opinion. i am a black woman who wears weave from time to time but also maintains a head full of natural hair....i feel like im def qualified to speak on my experience on the topic....everyone else...not so much.

and if you did rock a ryan gosling wig why would you hate yourself. you could just be out here tryna stunt and thats how you identify with yourself. again, i stress that too many generalizations on peoples appearances is exactly why folks find it hard to just be themselves.

Low cut is still our natural hair. Not to mention my hair right now is a low fro and I have received no hate for it by others nor by my own.

We used to have a time where we as black men straitened out our hair and such but then we jumped off of that wave and went natural other than those dudes who rock waves. Im waiting for black women to do this too.

In fact nappy hair is looked down upon not just by others but also by our own who tell those women with nappy hair to straighten it and use phrases like "Thank God Im not natural"

I go out and about and I rarely see other races wearing nappy hair to "explore different hairstyles" and they even go as far as dissing nappy hair yet I somehow see my own wearing their straight and culry hair and not one negative word is ever being said about straight or slightly curly hair.

It doesnt get more obvious than that.

But hey Im sure your gonna fight tooth and nail to wear european styled weave so I dont know what else I can tell you.

I just hope the women who are doing the natural hair movement reach you better than I can.

wow. i just wrote alot but erased it to keep this short and simple.

brotha man....i appreciate you and honor your opinion thats first off...but i find your response telling. if you feel this way and are around all these people that look down on the hair of the same people you come from that you likely need to revamp your social settings. i dont have these issues you speak of and dont identify with them at all. Ive never felt pressured by anyone to change my appearance to fit their standards of comfort and/or beauty....i run with people who nourish me and let me know that regardless of how i appear in the physical that im ok and that im recognized and supported. if you're so adamant about supporting naturals then speak up when you hear these conversations or when you hear self hate being spread by encouraging women to alter their hair to make someone else feel better about how to receive them physically.

i only fight tooth and nail over important matters that involve me or my loved ones so you're not likely to find that battle here with me either. also, read. My hair is natural. its not journey or a movement. it is simply my hair. MY being all the power i need to wear it how i want when i want and in what manner i desire it to be

so on that note...peace to you and the other homie that replied to me

I have mentioned earlier in this thread how I influence black women to give up weave for the sake of fighting self hate and nappy/kinky hair hate.

If black women do as the black men did where we had less straightening of our hair and more afros and natural hair then as it happened before we would have less weave wearers. I am basing this on history. I will do what I can to help this happen.

That should imply that I am revamping my social setting and speak up when I hear the conversations and self hate being spread. It also helps that when I speak up and do my part I have more black women with natural hair to show them so I can shut them down properly.

I saw your posts as you somehow defending the wearing of eropean weave which concerned me.

Are you seriously saying cutting your hair is the same as weave?

Lol don't try lumping hair cuting with weave wearing. Cutting my natural hair to a shorter length is still natural. If i cut my toenails to a shorter length, it's still my natural toenails. The process might not be natural but the results are natural.

And rocking a ryan gosling wig would be the dumbest thing ever :upsetfavre:

Imagine them chief keef type goons with that ryan gosling quiff on the block like":youngsabo: *flips hair* you mad?"

You should rephrase the question...black American women love their weave cause they love to kiss the white man's ass...they'll die before they give up weave...we should look to other blacks and convince them to stop this tacky practice...the black American woman is sadly a lost cause...
