Black men how do we convince black women to love their natural hair?

Wait, so you think that weaves or big natural hair means that a woman isn't attractive? Also, you think that skin issues don't exist for people who eat properly, drink water, and take care of their skin?

Just trying to understand

Minimalism is true beauty. Also good health so eat raw, monitor your starch intake and drink half your weight in water. If someone has skin eruptions then they probably need to shyt, detox, and or exercise. Burn victims should need makeup. Adult acne is worse than a weave. I personally have not met too many vegans with fukked up skin (or guts) and the ones that do are generally starchitarians. Im a skin freak though, my mother is really vain in that aspect. My maternal people NEVER experience breakouts. One secret is urine therapy.

disgust me too

white supremacy fukked up black folks opinion of our hair, and black women fukk the overall opinion of their childrens hair.

its crazy how black men get the blame when most of yall had a grandmama or momma that was telling you your nappy hair aint shyt, while perming it and burning yall ears and necks with a damn hot comb.
I had both genders doing it :yeshrug:

im bout to back the fukk up out this thread tho...ya'll blow the shyt outta me with all this weird judgement on how others should wear their crowns. It's offensive to say the least to assume that weave wearing black women hate themselves or that we don't know how to properly care for our tresses. It's another level of generalities that i choose not to play in because everyone is unique in their hair journey and that needs to be respected.

...what do i know tho :rudy:
It's not a really a good look to have hair that resembles another races own especially in these times where black features need to be valued more.

Not to mention how much it makes the race that the hair is from look better than your own.

More like that's what you're doing. You act like it ain't fathers around who could tell the mother of their children to stop doing that shyt. Ain't the man supposed to be the leader? You act like nikkas is helpless and can't say shyt. Yeah, it's a beauty standard, and yes black women perpetuate it, but since men are supposedly "leaders" of the household, why don't they lead and demand that shyt not be put on they daughters heads?

:blessed: and repped....

Well I just want to offer an alternate line of thought for a few things

minimalism is your opinion of true beauty. all of the people in all of the world are beautiful for unique reasons and that's not always a minimal aesthetic ...this is my opinion tho so i offer that

also, I don't disagree with you that good health, proper eating, and proper hydration are keys to optimizing skin health however it's damaging to associate skin issues with those things alone. I have adult acne and had it really bad as an adolescent too....my issues are linked to hormonal malfunctions though. My point is that I just like to shy away from generalizations ...i dont assume that someone with skin issues is just going home living poorly and that they dont care ...its probably actually the opposite of that in most cases. If you think you're a skin freak and have never had much issues with your skin....how do you think people like me feel? I've dedicated more than half my life to learning about how to treat myself because its always been a point of self consciousness.

I totally get where you're coming from but im confused about the following:

1. black features are the blueprint...anything other than the original is a biological adjustment to different climate/environment. so as far as these black features you mentioned needing to be valued do you not see that daily by the many brown people walking the earth that have them? my features remain the same regardless of the hairstyle, length, or texture soooooo how are you associating the two?

2. There is not one exclusive hair style, length, or texture in the world so to think that one wins or that one makes another race "look better" is silly to me. No disrespect to you personally of course. I just don't understand how or why folks put this much energy into questioning another persons choice of expression and identity. Especially when so many varied factors play into how someone chooses to adorn and style themselves

1. I see many women hiding their natural kinky hair.

2. Miss we both know that straight or slightly curly hair isn't what is generally known as black type hair.

I've heard other races of women talk about how sistas want their hair and its sickening.

It is questioned in the first place because we live in a country that is affected by white supremacy.

you are just a drop of water in the ocean. I'm confident that you use your same eyes and see many women who don't "hide" their natural kinky hair. for the sake of these discussions and arguments we all can bring to mind plenty of weave wearers but that doesn't change the fact that more than likely the entire earths population of brown and black people, both men and women, wear their hair in its natural state. I also find it interesting that it always focuses on women because unless as a man you don't manipulate your hair in any way...you're also "hiding" your natural kinky texture. I say that for dudes that keep a low cut....thats not considered self hate...but from the logic i believe you speak from...this should be under the same umbrella..no?

another issue i find w/ your first statement is what makes you think women like myself who wear weave has anything to hide? again ....this is why generalizations are dangerous. im sure i have a pic floating around this hell hole of me on my JI Jane flow...not a super bald fade but def a low low....and then my avi has me with blue long tresses that are very clearly not of my own follicles. I have these two images on the same site so....am i hiding. it's just two different times in space ...nothing more nothing less. Same can be said for most of the women i know who alter their hair....natural or not.

I do agree that straight hair textures are't common among people of color...thats for sure, but so what? The cool thing about hair is that its pretty strong and made to withstand certain types of manipulation. If a curly haired person who is not of color wanted to get it straight then does that mean they hate themselves....probably not. They just want to hit up a straight texture to explore alternate ways to style their hair. I'd liken this to you copping a new sneaker color to work with x amount of outfits versus limiting your wardrobe to only match with one pair you own. So why then is a person of color called to task when they want to explore alternate styling options that may or may not be an option w/ their own hair length/texture/color? The best thing about my long blue hair is that its in no way harming or altering my natural dark brown kinky tresses. Its fun for me on the fashion end but my normal hair still looks the same and hasnt had to endure crazy trauma from chemicals and color. It's a win/win as far as i see it

...and i encourage everyone to research black women, our style and our hair choices. It's laughable to think about any non brown woman believing that "sistas want their hair". that may be true for some but black women are the blueprint...i repeat THE BLUEPRINT. everything about us is clowned ridiculed and belittled only to be misappropriated and recycled back as "other". Meanwhile these very same races you heard talking prolly wish to gawds their dna held up like a black woman and they also actually evny our hair ...the only hair on earth that rises to the sun in praise like the crown and halo that it is. listen closer in and really hear what that's about because as a black woman i have wayyyyyy more tick marks in my "i bet another bish wishes she had it like this" list..meanwhile lil cindy lu out here tryna get her ass together, her lips together, she prolly has a white girl weave in, wants to dress like, talk like, walk like a black woman...and also want to be up here dirtyig up their hair so they can try to poorly mimic the original

Low cut is still our natural hair. Not to mention my hair right now is a low fro and I have received no hate for it by others nor by my own.

We used to have a time where we as black men straitened out our hair and such but then we jumped off of that wave and went natural other than those dudes who rock waves. Im waiting for black women to do this too.

In fact nappy hair is looked down upon not just by others but also by our own who tell those women with nappy hair to straighten it and use phrases like "Thank God Im not natural"

I go out and about and I rarely see other races wearing nappy hair to "explore different hairstyles" and they even go as far as dissing nappy hair yet I somehow see my own wearing their straight and culry hair and not one negative word is ever being said about straight or slightly curly hair.

It doesnt get more obvious than that.

But hey Im sure your gonna fight tooth and nail to wear european styled weave so I dont know what else I can tell you.

I just hope the women who are doing the natural hair movement reach you better than I can.
