It was funny but I think a big problem is that I have no idea what they're trying to convey with the Black Jesus character, because he seems to be all over the place. Is he a lazy free loader, the genuine article, a parody of the holier than thou attitude of religious blacks, or what? Because it seems to try and do all these things without any of it gelling. For the show to work, his character needs to be more clearly defined. So far the funniest moments were when they portrayed him as the real deal (a benevolent samaritan) in modern situations with awareness of who he is (like the "I swear to pops" and "Heaven's nah!" lines).
I think that's PRECISELY the point. People coming in viewing Jesus from different perspectives. It is no different from in real life of how people view Jesus. Jesus is a lot of things to a lot of people, and this basically is exposing this satirically.
Keep this in mind also, that this show is basically parodying The New Testament in general in which in the bible Jesus WAS from the hood, and he did hang out with nothing but low lives, hustlers, and those who were viewed as uncivilized by the elite society. He was protecting prostitutes, hang out in parties, and was hated on by those who didn't quite understood him, or think he was a fraud.
To tell you the truth, this may be the most AUTHENTIC portrayal of Jesus ever shown.
I'm not sold on this show just yet. Seems like it would have made a better cartoon. had a few laughs though.

show is good, but i felt like they dropped the ball on not having his resurrection....no way Jesus would just be walking the streets and not have some sort of explosion of publicity, etc the second he resurrected...its just like Jesus never left and has been holding it down in the hood like nothing
the show is if he came back in present dayI sense you never read your bible. When Jesus resurrected, there wasn't no explosion of publicity, there was nothing. Mainly Jesus returning to kick it with his disciples for a few more days giving them instruction to spread the word and then his ascension.
THAT'S what makes alot of the shyt funny, everybody so nonchalant about jesus walkin around, they treat him like a regular nikka,he keeps on tryna pull the "but im jesus " card and nikkas like charlie murphy and that detective broad didn't give a flying fukk about him being jesusshow is good, but i felt like they dropped the ball on not having his resurrection....no way Jesus would just be walking the streets and not have some sort of explosion of publicity, etc the second he resurrected...its just like Jesus never left and has been holding it down in the hood like nothing
