My thing is this: I don't see why there can't be much better dialogue between black feminists and black men. Why can't you be a pro-black feminist? It's not mutually exclusive. I think we have to be more wiling to address these concerns or risk contributing to more divisiveness.

let's examine it.

what values are BW instilling in their sons that make them believe it's okay to hit or even murder a BW? it's not like these young males hopped out the womb, ready to "subjugate" the black woman. i'm focused soley on the parent(s) when it comes to this issue. you have violent single mothers that raise violent children, it's as simple as that, imo.

so in examining the violence against black women, we immediately shift the blame back to how they victimize black men? Thats not addressing the violence enacted against them.

You and most of the black males here seem to be insinuating that these deadbeats are a rare minority amongst you when that's not the case. 1/3 of you will go to prison in your lifetimes. Only 10% of you bother to further your eduction. And still a group of people with those dismal stats make more than black women, and have astronomically more personal wealth than black women due to the rampant sexism in society. The fact is an educated non-jailbird is a rarity. Coupled with the fact that highly intelligent/educated people tend to have less children it's an imaginary world in which a plethora of black children will be made with non-deadbeat black males. There's a reason that black male abandonment of their offspring transcends culture and race (it's seen across the black diaspora AND in the mulatto population), and it has nothing to do with the "poor choices" that black women make.

once again, black women are not majoring in high paying careers. for the 109489th time, men can find manual labor jobs that pay just as much if not more, without a college education. you keep making it seem like the % of black men working are all earning significantly more than BW, total, when that's not the case. you're twice as likely to be employed over us,with the wage gap between us being is minimal.

and men have more wealth than women across the board because y'all spend more. you actually spend more than you make, because women also spend their husbands money as well. it's not like the brotha at mcdonalds is earning as much as a black woman in corporate america, you're sticking to a bullshyt narrative.

i also re-direct you to the 1986 documentary as evidence of black womans poor choices in mates. its one thing if y'all were all out here childless, looking for husband material. but y'all procreate with the flavor of the month when you're 15, 16, 17; then got the nerve to complain about the lack of quality black men in your twenties and thirties.

Black women are trying to rebuild the community too. And patriarchy is oppressive. Im all for black male leadership, but I also believe that black women should have equal access to those leadership roles. Just because I was born a man does not mean that I should benefit from a system that will uplift me while marginalizing my sister.

i'm not victimizing black men, i'm pointing out that they did not learn their behavior in a bubble. someone instilled those values and morals (or lack there of) into them, and it's usually the single black woman.

i would assume they're violent from generations of matriarchal households living in poverty-which is fueled by starting families you cant afford. hell, women out here with several kids and no man around, damn right they're going to be hostile.

and black women are not protected, there's no patriarchy to make sure black women are secure and provided for. so i have to bring it back to my original question. what complaints do black feminist have that wouldn't immediately be rectified by having black men in the proper financial position? because i cant think of very many.

What about the men who aren't leaders, and the women who aren't submissive and are better as leaders?

i dont believe leadership is an intrinsic quality in men. i believe you have to be taught to lead, and be given the proper provisions to lead. so if you dont fit the gender roles, that's fine. we can have women leaders and male followers. but at the end of the day, the communal roles between men and women are not equal. men still have to go out and build and maintain the phsyical infrastructure of the community. without that, the women are VALUELESS.

Im all for black male leadership, but I also believe that black women should have equal access to those leadership roles. I'm being uplifted over women, when my voice speaks louder in those leadership roles. Yes, we go through all those things you mentioned, but as a young black professional, I see that because there is a lack of black male presence, we often are elevated to positions of leadership where we work. This is true for me.
When we talk about police killing black bodies, we often think about the brothers who have recently been slayed, but how much attention is being paid to the sisters who die by the hands of police as well? It's not about saying who should the most attention given to their plight; it is simply acknowledging that they deal with a lot of the same shyt we do, and also some other shyt as well that we don't.

if you really feel that way, why not work to give up your positions to the black women you feel are more qualified? this so called benefit for the tokens means very little when on the back end, we're getting employed less, killed more, and incarcerated at higher rates.

you know why that is breh. because no is afraid of women. no one is concerned that women are going to tool up and take it to their oppressors. i'm not saying that's fair, you can call it sexism, but it is what it is.

well if i'm wrong, i'd like you to break it down for me. i think we're all looking at patriarchy differently. y'all see it as one big collective, where as i see teams. you could try to dismantle "white patriarchy", but you'll still have to deal with asian patriarchy, indian, arab, hispanic patriarchy.

and black women are going to have to realize that women of other races may talk a good game, but they arent going to try to dismantle their patriarchal structure.
