Politics as Usual
Nobody even listen to the video

He said the neighborhood was all black, black families work, their was black Taylors, black own stores, the kids was disciplined by other parents in the neighborhood, the schools held parent conference meetings in the evening when both parents was available, both parents in the black home was at 79% up until 1960.. teen pregnancy was look down on and other points..

But coli nikkas want to argue and scared to admit those days are long gone in the community

This has nothing to do with being conservative or liberal…..

Lol...Farrakhan believes that the government owes Black people and that White supremacy has held us down for a long time.

That alone makes him totally incompatible with modern conservatism which believes the exact opposite. There's a reason why conservatives hate him and Obama for associating with him.

Some of ya'll stay playing this schtick where you act like you don't know who we're criticizing when he speak of conservatives. Nobody's associating Farrakhan with the MAGA movement or the current crop of conservatives who want to strip everyone but straight White men of their rights.

But you can go ahead and think that the only people who believe in God and don't live degenerate lifestyles are conservatives.

Most black people are conservative, we just dont rock with the republican party.:francis:

This is a myth, other than being more conservative on certain social issues, and very religious, the average Black American is much farther left than the average American. Universal healthcare, taxing wall street speculation and expanding social security, are most popular among Black voters and poll highly even among non-voters.

For real.

Dudes take a few things: Religion and attitudes towards LGBTQ and run it into the ground to claim that Black people are natural conservatives.

Granted, I would say Black Americans as a whole are economically liberal moderates. We question things that seem very radical or extreme but we don't really believe in stripping people of their civil rights or making their lives tough.

Overall, though, we're not as conservative as many people claim. The average Black church is being supported by old heads and single moms and is going through declining membership. Even the "social conservatives" of TLR dislike the idea of going to church and paying tithes.

And the LGBTQ thing is exaggerated too. Some Black folks might vocalize certain things about that community but we're no where near as fervent about stripping them of their rights like White conservatives. We still will dap up and hang out with the cousin or choir director who's obviously gay.

Most of the other things conservative support though isn't really supported by us in the slightest. Even other minorities like Asians, Hispanics, and Arabs are more genuinely conservative than we are.

Once again, Conservatives don't have a monopoly over being responsible, getting married, having morals, and having stable families.

States like Alabama, Arkansas, Ohio, West Virginia, Oklahoma, etc. are filled with "conservatives" that have baby daddy/mama drama, welfare, poverty, dysfunctional families, drug problems, poorly educated people, etc. but somehow conservatives ONLY want their very best to be the representatives of their group while associating degeneracy with liberals and Democrats.

Being a responsible, law abiding Black man doesn't automatically make you a "conservative." It doesn't even make you a social conservative. There's nothing political about being a responsible adult and having common decency.

I was with ol boy until ~3:40.

1) We respected education -> I dropped out of high school at 17

This type of rose-colored glasses/shea butter scented histories of "When we wuz Colored" is as disingenuous as "When we was Kangz".

He doesn't seem to have the capacity to understand what Jim Crow/Segregation (because that's the time he's talking about) actually means.

2) "We didn't know we were poor"

Being poor matters tho.

We know that Black Infant mortality - a good proxy for poverty - dropped 7.5 to 2.8 from the 1933 (he was born in 29) - to 1971 (6 years after Moynihan)

These Bob Woodson type of folks don't realize that being poor has actual health and life outcomes.

There are Black Conservatives like Malcolm X, Farrakhan, Marcus Garvey (and none of these dudes are perfect by any means, all have bad stories to tell) etc - and then there are Black Conservatives like Thomas Sowell, Larry Elder, Candace Owens. - The former are very conscious of their race, of their heritage, and what they've lost as a result.

The latter? They tend to be "race blind" and everything is already "equal". They never want to acknowledge the effect of race and racism.

What separates a Khalid Muhammad from a John McWhorter (lefty/libertarian version of this) is a deep understanding of how power and resources fall along racial lines.

On the other side -

You got folks on the Black Left - that think you can work with them folks (Kamala Harris/Abrams) or that you can yell at them folks (BLM).

Any of y'all grew up in the South?

I wasn't born there, but I moved there real young.

The real Black conservative doesn't think that White folks are going to give Black People the respect, much less the money Black people are due.

There are plenty of them in the South, Midwest, and other places.

They know what the score is.

They will work with folks, but they won't be stepping and fetching nothing for no white man.
No grinning, shucking and jiving. No cheesing for the camera.

Work hard, and do the job the right.
Honest day's work, honest day's pay.
Keep your mouth shut.

They're trying to stack their bills and stay alive.

Hopefully have a family and some kids running around.
Go to the local football game. Raise you a quarterback, send your son off to a big school
Got some Pinaud After Shave on top of the dresser.

Maybe he served in the Armed Forces.
He might be a deacon in the Church.

Most he can hope for is a nice car, a house of his own, a boat, maybe if he's really lucky a business.

Maybe he votes Democrat, Maybe he votes Republican - 99 times out of 100, he can't tell you what any of them politicians have done for him though.
Even if the politicians have done something for him, most of the time he's not putting together Obamacare and his wife being able to get dr's appointments now...

He don't like none of this LGBT stuff, but at the same time, he's not trying burn down their houses.
He feel some type of way about Mexicans coming in and taking work he used to, but he don't want you to round up their children and put em in cages...

He don't like seeing these boys with their pants hanging off they ass, selling drugs, shucking and jiving either.
But he don't pretend he wasn't drinking and smoking reefer at that age either.
He don't like these new hair cuts, but he got a curl or a conk in his old photos..

Back in the day, they might put some money on the books for MLK Jr, but they wasn't marching.

These type of people - they're the actual Black conservatives.

All these folks claim to speak for them, but nobody speaks to them.

I think this is true right now, but if Black voters were a more organized coalition within the democratic party, and we didn't have the spectre of far right republican rule hanging over our heads, I'd go so far to say most would shift to a more social democratic type of position economically. The moderate liberal tradition amongst Black people in the US is mainly a compromise for the party, when I was canvasing the last primary, even older Black voters agreed with the policies but voted more moderately for a 'safer bet'.
