you can call it racism all you want, but white people aren't OBLIGATED to fill seats.

Movies are just like any other financial investment.
Your argument is bordering on some idealistic free market nonsense.
I'll just stop now.

What the hell are you talking about?

Do you know anyone in hollywood?

I know a few agents who work out there.

Remember, blacks are 12% of the population so all that rah rah shyt about making movies comes down to:

1. Money/investment

2. demographics.

3. ROI.

Blacks are already losing on the demographic front.

The ROI ain't that strong with certain movies. Are we talking Bad Boys II, something that anyone can kinda watch or something more like Boomerang? A niche film?

I would be all for it but truth of the matter them types of movies like that and Rosewood, the great debaters they don't make no money. If they don't make money even cats of here wouldn't keep making them cause the goal even through the enlightenment is to make money usually. One day though I hope my statements are wrong

exactly.

even tariq nasheed had to put out about couple cease and desist letters out there :heh:

I have no problem with Django. They did that film perfectly...it's not a save movie per se.....but an action/comedy with the slave pushing white ppl consistently depicted in a negative, barbaric light....and the black ppl in the movie are the heroes.

As uplifting as though movies sound I wouldn't go see them :manny:

:upsetfavre: maybe you should spend that time doing something else....

I find it hard to believe it's a simple money issue.
It's a consideration, to be sure.
But the suspicion that non-whites may not flock to the theaters to watch a movie with black actors certainly has racial undertones.
You find it hard to think its a money issue but look at even the white movies. The hangover hit and every since then we've gotten like 20-30 faux versions of this movie trying to look for the next one. If they knew they could run out black movies and produce a few black movies that did real numbers they would make em I think. I remember when red tails came out there were some black chicks that didn't want to see the movie just because dude had a non black chick. I was like they can't be serious but with little shyt like that going on I can see why they wouldn't make that many movies on top of us being 12% of the population from a $$$ standpoint.

What happened to the mid 90s to early 2000s when we had a stream of black movies (The Wood, Love and Basketball, Brothers, Best Man, etc). We seem to only get the slave pic or the Tyler Perry movies now. While those I listed weren't the best movies in history, it was decent entertainment and not all about the negative images. I thought those flicks made money for the studios.

Nick Canon talks about how he's tired of slave movies every year. He talks about how he is going to produce movies about African Kingdoms, African Warriors, Black Positivity ect.
He also talks lightly about all the business he's involved in, and the money he is making...
Shanon Sharpe talking about the football player using the n-word/threatening his team mate and how other black teammates co-signed the racist white dude.
That's all cool. But could you have at least spelled Nick Cannon's and Shannon Sharpe's name properly? Just to properly give props where proper props is due.

I kind of enjoyed Black Dynomite, an homage to black cinema of the 70s.
I hated Soul Plane.
I don't know why, I kind of liked "Nutty Professor" with Eddie Murphy, it was stupid but entertaining.
I have mixed feelings about "The Help".
I have yet to see "42".

yeah. This is all hopes and dreams. People that go to the movies don't want to see no African king movies

But they'll go see a movie about an illiterate fat black girl getting molested by her parents, stealing buckets of fried chicken, and getting HIV at the end? You don't see a problem with that?
