Whats wrong with movies depicting slavery? Not suggesting that we shouldn't have movies that cover the entirety of the African experience but yall wanna act like those 400 years of slavery aren't important in the context of African American history :what:. Every facet of African history should be told and retold, and yes that includes the stain of slavery.

His point was that it's has been done too much and it's just a reason for white people to rub it in our faces. They aren't doing it to show no history or build up black people. Trying to remind you, you still a nikka and no one cares

The World, but from BK
Nick Canon talks about how he's tired of slave movies every year. He talks about how he is going to produce movies about African Kingdoms, African Warriors, Black Positivity ect.

He also talks lightly about all the business he's involved in, and the money he is making...:whew:

Shanon Sharpe talking about the football player using the n-word/threatening his team mate and how other black teammates co-signed the racist white dude.

Maaaan, I been feeling that way for the longest. I been stopped checking slave movies or movies with black ddues having to sell drugs or commit robberies to survive. That story is played out to me. That's why I always liked Spike Lee films, he always comes with a different kinda stories.

btw, as I've gotten older I realize and appreciate how great of a movie Boyz-n- the Hood is and I think less of Menace 2 Society

It's kind of a struggle to make movies in America that portray black people or Africans in an accurate/positive light.
Film studios just don't want to fund them.
I thought I read someplace that Malcolm X almost didn't even get made because Spike Lee had trouble securing financing. Didn't Oprah and other celebrities come through for him? I'm sure I could google this...

this is incorrect.

Its not that they DONT WANT to fund these things.

Hollywood is INCREDIBLY liberal...its that THEY CAN'T MAKE THEIR MONEY BACK FROM THEIR AUDIENCES.

The movie industry is just like any other business at the end of the day.

If you want to make documentaries and projects of passion that will allow you to tell stories you're DYING to do...then go ahead.

But the big studios aren't gambling on shyt they can't be certain won't make money.

I need no other example than what George Lucas went through trying to make "Red Tails"
