Latinos were mere spectators back then, same as they are today. If Latinos contribution is generally meagre today, its even harder to imagine their contribution back then.

Most Latino traditional dances, Merengue, Bachata, Salsa etc are African in origin anyway so if they thought that was a contribution in hiphop its not. Hip hop is a Black American/ Weat Indian creation.

See... that's thing. These Latinos are not just saying that they were their early after Hip Hop started... they're saying that they helped create it from the beginning. But we all know how the game goes... 20 years from now it's going to be that the Latinos are the ones who really "Created" Hip Hop and the Blacks came later and contributed to it.
