NEW YORK (AP) — A black actor on the HBO drama series "Treme" (treh-MAY') says he was stopped because of his race while buying sunglasses at a New York City Macy's department store and has filed a lawsuit against it.

Robert Brown's lawsuit comes after two other black shoppers made similar claims against Barneys New York this week.

Brown's lawsuit was filed Friday in state Supreme Court in Manhattan. It says he was stopped by police at the Macy's Herald Square store after employees contacted authorities about possible credit card fraud.

Brown says he was held at the store, handcuffed and searched before being released. He says he was targeted because he's black.

Macy's says it's investigating the claim.

The New York Police Department is named in the lawsuit. The city's Law Department says it'll review the lawsuit once it receives it.

Man...NYC is moving into Phase One on negroes... :patrice: :wow:

This city is starting to feel very anti-black as of late. I blame gentrification, extreme classism, and an increased police presence to boot.

I wouldn't be surprised if more stories come out like this. Clerks at those department stores are always following black and brown folks there like white on rice and seem to justify their profiling and discrimination because they can use their token black and brown employees to deflect any notion of racism.

Oh another thing: keep in mind the reoccurring theme in these stories is credit card fraud. Which is demeaning and offensive as hell. They're basically saying black people can't buy stuff in there stores because they don't have money and are criminal in nature so basically, the money they use to make their purchases with has to be stolen/illegally acquired.

I walked out of the Broward Mall one time and some security guy followed me all the way to my car, I didn't notice him until I got there. He took one peak in my bag before I realized it then said on his radio "never mind", he ran back to the store before I could even say :wtf:

Racism only exists in the south. Even with the mass deportation of negroes out of burroughs, Sean Bell, stop and frisk, asking for freedom papers, it still only exists in the South :troll:. It has so many world class amenities and culture. It's just that no one there respects yours.

TO YOUR CAR?

I'm pretty sure they can't follow you out of the store.

:heh: Nostalgia is a powerful drug. City has always been anti-black. They housed you negroes in cages, pumped drugs into the city to kill yourselves for 3 damn decades. Cop gets killed and it's time to "clean it up" ie price you negroes out. Two decades later and NYC is becoming the city its wanted to be for a very long time. When there is one negro left in the city, I'll die of laughter when you guys still are holding onto how "multicultural" it is.
