It's not just black people getting priced out of New York City, it's longtime residents and natives from all over getting priced out too. There have been plenty of white, hispanic, and asian people that have been priced out of the city. Private property, suburban sprawl, and the construction of the projects in lieu with the welfare culture just made it easier to price out poor and middle class people. There's so much to it, I just don't want to get off topic.
