You mean in this video? Nothing. Ryan hit him with the blast double and just held him down in the restaurant. Eventually the guy calmed down and the only reason Ryan grabbed him again and yanked him outside and put him to sleep with a rear naked choke is because the guy threatened Ryan's best friend, Seph, who had just had shoulder surgery. So when the guy moved towards Seph, Ryan grabbed him and yanked him outside and put him to sleep. Right after that, the cops showed up, and everything was cool. He didn't get in trouble or anything. Even the drunk guy didn't get in trouble.

:patrice: Do you think he should have just rocked him to sleep on the ground the first time?

I assume you mean rocking him with shots? If the friend were making threats or coming at you, maybe. But, it also becomes a pretty serious crime at that point. If you're sober, mounted on top of a drunk person, that's making no attempts to hurt you, and you start smashing his face in with fists and elbows, you're probably gonna get hit with some felonies once the cops show up.

With the law it's all about matching the threat. if someone punches you, you can't stab them to death and then claim it was self defense. But if they pull out a knife, at that point you can also pull a blade or a gun because it's escalated to a situation where you can probably argue that you're in imminent fear of your life. So same goes for no weapons. If someone you're thinking MIGHT hit you, so you jump the gun and take them down first and hold them there until they calm down, that seems reasonable. But if you start to escalate and reign down bombs on him, HE could probably shoot YOU at that point if he had a gun on him, claim self defense against YOU, and possibly be good to go. Because you went from 0 to being the attacker at that point, and even though you were drunk and talking shyt, if a world class jiu-jitsu athlete is mounting you and reigning blows down, and you're drunk/impaired, I think you could argue that at that point your life is in danger.

So it gets really gray, really fast, when you start thinking about it also from a legal point of view.

Yea that sucks. I feel like if someone is in my personal face, asking me for a fight and i give them one, its bullshyt that i can be considered wrong, and sadly because of the race factor, its very possible i will be considered wrong.

*dude he was just talking to you, i mean he was upset but he didnt seem like much of a threat*

And Ryan was fortunate the cop that showed up didn't see him as a "threat".

I know that exact spot out in VA, its right near the bars, drunks are out there fighting all the time

I was talking about that with someone recently, about how if the cops show up you should tell them that you applied a "vascular restraint" instead of saying "choke hold". But that you shouldn't stick around if possible. he was saying that the cops just want the job easier on them. You should "never ever talk to police under any circumstances."

Yup. I try to carry myself as unemotional as possible before conflict. If it's gonna go down its gonna go down . No need making a incriminating scene in the process by acting loud and aggressive. Plus I don't eat my opponent to know what he's in for. Keep his aggression in bully mode which should mean that his heart will be low.

People will remember two guys yelling and one of them beating the shyt out of the other and if the guy hits you or slaps you and you mount and punch your fist through his face to the ground that's all they will remember. The overkill. Take the fight away from witnesses if possible and do what needs to be doNE because in public you basically have to wait for the guy to give you more then enough reason, just so you can say

"I have like 10 witnesses that saw him attack me first"
