if we’re being brutally honest the show fell off during the season finale of S1...when him and axe were in the same room and the room started spinning (well the camera was) while they were exchanging speeches and shyt...shyt was awful...but I kept watching after that out of boredom/habit
I loved that shyt :pachaha: I felt like Steve Willis watching it

Ok just caught up and :laff: this shyt terrible. But I keep hate watching. Matter of fact let me drop this quote of mine from season 3.

This shyt is trash now. The writing is terrible. These nikkas really had a conversation in a judge's chambers using pasta doneness as a metaphor. :dahell:

The new direction of the show doesn't have the same panache (see they got me using words like them). This pivot was sloppily done... the amount of things that had to go right to get the trial dismissed. Wendy seducing Mafee. :dahell: Hacking cell phone records. :dahell: Framing the doc. :dahell: The list goes on... Way too many people had to be involved for that shyt to go smoothly.

Connerty vs Chuck is a weak plot because Connerty has been getting sonned at every turn. At least when Chuck got sonned you got a W to offset it.

Taylor vs. Axe isn't interesting. She's more likely to just leave than try to battle Axe.

The Chuck vs. Axe conflict was the draw of the show. Making them work together for Wendy was the equivalent of the Fonz doing a triple backflip over that shark.

I'm serious brehs, I might be done watching after this season. I know when to to quit a show while the getting's good. I bounced on Dexter, Lost, Weeds, and The Walking Dead before it got too late.

:mjcry:

At this point I’m invested to see how it ends.

It's a damn shame what happened to this show...season 1 and 2 were great and it has been consistent trash since then...

Like...if you watched season 3 - now and then watched season 1 - 2 you wouldn't know this was the same show...

Dat showtime curse is real...

Almost finally caught up. Its not good like it used to be but I still enjoy watching this show. Wendy Rhodes is way overpowered now. She's the top business shrink in the game but now she also is a big time market guru and power player? Why is Slacker always google-eyeing and sleeping with dirty old white dudes? Shouldn't she be with the next Obama type nicca? Yeah the Jeopardy-questionnaire dialog is even more cringworthy than before. I could see if some of these characters were well versed in a subject but well versed in every subject known to man is not good writing. In real life it would seem that Taylor would be best for keeping her in an office and on the computer doing her magic instead of having her trying to close deals with that weird personality and unisex lifestyle. Why would anyone want to sit and try to make a deal with a robot like that? Still watching though. Its definitely ran its course but its still an entertaining watch

in hindsight it pretty much is...I think the problem is I took the show “seriously” until ‘succession’ came along...then I realized ‘billions’ is just a cool “fluff piece” to watch but even that stopped being fun for me after a while

I havent watched this season yet but as soon as last season ended and Chuck was back on his hate case with Axe I knew this season would be a little ass. I will catch up just to see for myself but wasn't expecting much at all

And you can't even root for Chuck because he's breaking the law just as much as Axe. At least with Axe, he has a code that he sticks to. Chuck doesn't.

I still enjoy the show outside of the stupid things episode to episode. The mental plays, tricks, and manipulation keeps me watching. Plus Ax and Chuck’s characters are great!

I never watched House of Lies, but I don't think a show like this would exist without Entourage. Imagine if Ari Gold's office was a crooked NY financial firm, and the co-main-characters were the "cool Ari Gold meets Gordon Gekko" firm owner, and the weirdo equal-and-opposite BDSM submissive government agent trying to bring him down. All the main characters and secondary recurring characters have genius-level intelligence and perfect recall of popular culture and all lines of dialog of any movie that would be considered "important" to people in that world made between the years 1967-1992. Add in a another psychologist character that's a "Troi" from Star Trek-level empath, and later on a "They/Them" pronoun using living mathematical supercomputer character. Mix in all of Entourage's "wealth porn", plus product placement, and cameos. But subtract the "who does Vincent Chase sleep with this week" eye candy.

Billions is a show that is old money vs. new money. Chuck resents Axe because he didn't come from aristocracy the way he did. Axe resents Chuck for the opposite reason.

I gave up on this being a serious show after the third season, but I can't get over the corny middle-age white man references they litter the show with.
